    Funny toon. Ya we got a few of these punks in our town with low-riders and music(usually rap) so loud there is no way these thugs could hear an ambulance. Sad thing is we probably paid for that stereo through welfare checks.

    Years ago I had a woman living with me who was on welfare and food stamps. She could only buy normal food with the food stamps, no steaks.

    I can’t see how The Florida Supreme Court ruled that this was legal. Your rights end when they infringe on the rights of others. I have a right to not hear your music, do I not?

    A popular law, overturned by the appeals court because it was vague, leaving the definition of ‘too loud’ up to the police (specifically, what does ‘clearly audible’ mean?).

    The Supreme Court did not find the law vague, but noted that it only applied to individuals, and all corporations were exempted. Since ‘Corporations are People, my friend,’ that meant that people had to also be exempted under the US Constitution! The law’s the law.

    You never hear loud classical music comming from any of these cars.
    .
    Long or repeated exposure to sounds at or above 85 decibels can cause hearing loss. The louder the sound, the shorter the time period

    People is plural, person singular. Corporation is many, individual is one.
    The constitution protects the one fom the tyranny of the many, while protecting the assembling of the ones to effect change.

    From the Food Stamp page:
    Eligible Food Items

    Households CAN use SNAP benefits to buy:

    Foods for the household to eat, such as:
    —breads and cereals;
    —fruits and vegetables;
    —meats, fish and poultry; and
    —dairy products.

    Seeds and plants which produce food for the household to eat.

    In some areas, restaurants can be authorized to accept SNAP benefits from qualified homeless, elderly, or disabled people in exchange for low-cost meals.

    Households CANNOT use SNAP benefits to buy:

    Beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes or tobacco;

    Any nonfood items, such as:

    —pet foods;—soaps, paper products; and—household supplies.

    Vitamins and medicines.
    Food that will be eaten in the store.
    Hot foods.

    Additional Information

    “Junk Food” & Luxury Items
    The Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (the Act) defines eligible food as any food or food product for home consumption and also includes seeds and plants which produce food for consumption by SNAP households. The Act precludes the following items from being purchased with SNAP benefits: alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, hot food and any food sold for on-premises consumption. Nonfood items such as pet foods, soaps, paper products, medicines and vitamins, household supplies, grooming items, and cosmetics, also are ineligible for purchase with SNAP benefits.

    Soft drinks, candy, cookies, snack crackers, and ice cream are food items and are therefore eligible items

    Seafood, steak, and bakery cakes are also food items and are therefore eligible items

    Klark Kant,If she was living with you , I feel sorry for her. But she did not qualify as your contribution should have counted as income. So you are both criminal welfare cheats. Typical libocruds, do as I say not as I do.

    I remember a case where a 7-11 store owner was getting fed up with high school kids hanging out in his parking lot and playing loud hip-hop music at full blast—it was driving away his paying customers. So he started playing classical music through the loud speaker system and the kids wouldn’t come near the place.

    1) He said he lived with her. He didn’t say they were romantically involved. Adults of different genders do have the ability to live as roommates without shacking up.
    2)The salary restrictions and the amount given in food stamps makes it difficult to be able to purchase high dollar items such as steak and seafood.

    You do make a point about the junk food. While I support the food stamp program, I firmly believe that candy, bakery items, chips, and pop should be removed from the eligibility list. The food stamps recipient will be better of both financially and medically.
