Ahh… Iowa. God’s country. The breadbasket of the world. 5% unemployment (95% employment). They are mostly democrats because of all the farm subsidies. You know, one of the biggest welfare programs in America. It includes the food stamp program, crop insurance, price floors and so much more. The farmers all complain how poor they are while driving $300,000 combines and new strech trucks. Birthplace of John Wayne, The Bridges of Madison County, Fields of Dreams.

Yeah, the Tea Party is gonna get rid of all them pesky farm subsidies, right? Right?

@Ms. Ima
today both you and the cartoon seem to be off.
“CNBC’s list of “Top States for Business in 2010” has recognized Iowa as the sixth best state in the nation in the overall score. In the 10 individual categories, Iowa’s best ranking was being 1st when it came to the “Cost of Doing Business”, this includes all taxes, utility costs, and other costs associated with doing business. 10th in the “Economy” rankings, 12th in “Business Friendliness”, 16th in “Education”, 17th in both “Cost of Living” and “Quality of Life”, 20th in “Workforce”, 29th in “Technology and Innovation”, 32nd in “Transportation” and the lowest ranking was 36th in “Access to Capital”
While Iowa is often viewed as a farming state, in reality agriculture is a small portion of a diversified economy, with manufacturing, biotechnology, finance and insurance services, and government services contributing substantially to Iowa’s economy.

This is why we must have a National Primary Day, the 2nd Tuesday after the 2nd Monday in May where all 50 States hold a Primary, tjhis will be more fair to all Candidates

@saywhatwhat
Thanks for the refreshing and relevant facts.
Funny how The Brainiac Ima ended his/her blather with 3 Hollywood references…
Looks as if he/she/it rather enjoys the fruits of that community’s commie/socialist/fascist/union folk’s labor!

Do you need to buy two tickets to get into the drive-in movie theater when you drive a combine? In other words: do you think they own these things for fun?

Leave it to the Republicans to start an election cycle again so soon after the last one. Elections should be limited to 60 days.

I think Rubio has “birther issues,” He doesn’t know how old the Earth is. And he has too much competition.

@Tigger
What makes you think the parties want to be fair to the candidates? If there had been a national primary day, do you think there would have been a different candidate(s)?
-
Who would it have been?
-
I am not criticizing the concept, except that the objective of the primaries is to declare a winner for each party, and I don’t think a single national primary day would do it.

@onguard
‘And they will start with the Corn/Ethanol subsidies.’
-
Start is exactly what they’ll do. Finish, by actually eliminating subsidies? Pretty doubtful.
-
Remember, the Tea Party is financed by someone, it’s not grass roots.

Canadian elections, start to finish, are 45 days. OR LESS.

@Radish
why have them at all? We always get what the democrats want either way anyway.
