Revenge for the Democrats. In 2000 Florida elected a President. In 2012, Florida just didn’t matter.

Jon Stewart commented Wednesday night on Florida’s clusterfu…uhmmm….tendency to have electoral complications…yeah…that’s better…and how, for once, it wasn’t going to make a difference.
That said, it was reported last night that over 600 thousand votes in Arizona had yet to be counted, and in Florida on Tuesday morning, Robocalls went out to democrat voters telling them they had until Wednesday at 7pm to vote, which was not true. The votes still being counted will take away the Republican super majority and may even give the state house to Dems. It has been widely reported that many of the gains Republicans made in state legislations were reversed because of voter concerns about the social agenda of extremists. I would hope, were Democrats to try to force social agendas through state congresses, they would experience the same losses.
There has been too much effort to prevent voters from getting to the polls. This is Un-American. My state of Virginia gives voters 6 separate ways to identify themselves as legal voters and only the driver’s license costs money.
Respectfully, tho…with an attempt towards humor,
C.

@Respectful Troll
C, are you sure that those calls went out to only Democrats? I can’t imagine that a Supervisor of Elections in Florida would try to pull a stunt that stupid (particularly this Supervisor of Elections). She told her Governor to “stuff it” when it came to purging voter rolls.

Florida now has laws mandating recounts when the results are within 1% of a tie.
Very few counties were within that margin, but the state as a whole WAS.
I still say that allocation of Electoral Votes should be proportional to the popular vote, not winner take all.

To be frank, i did not double check the information I heard last night on tv. I usually try to find more stories on things like this, but today I didn’t. Thank you for providing that caveat. Just because you hear it on the internet or tv doesn’t make it true. Sources do matter and I apologize if I misspoke. I tried to delete the message and remove that line but for some reason, the delete/reply option isn’t coming up which is why I did the notation above.
Thank you Mikefive. I lose validity by generalizing or making false accusations. That does not help the debate.
If I am able to fix that post later, I will do so.
With much appreciation to Mikefive,
C.

@Respectful Troll Although a stupid thing for a Supervisor of Elections in Florida to do I am aware that they are politicians and politicians often do stupid things. The only reason I questioned that part of your post is that she (the supervisor) is a Republican and would not continue to purge her voter rolls as “commanded” by the Governor. She even reinstated the few voters that had been purged. It just struck me as an incongruity to her previously displayed integrity for her to have authorized such an exploit . I only did a cursory search on this subject and could find nothing. This caused me to question that part of a good post.

Who said a state official sent the calls out?
MortyForTyrant said, 7 months ago
Carl Rove should move to Florida (aka “Gods waiting room”). They are as stubborn as he is. They held back the result so that President Obama would not win 334 to 206 but “only” 305 to 206. That’s what i call a “sore loser”…

“I still say that allocation of Electoral Votes should be proportional to the popular vote, not winner take all.”
Hear, hear! 40% of Calilfornians voted against Obama, 40% of Texans voted for Obama, 25% of the voters in Utah voted against Romney, and they’re all basically written off.
I did a crunch of the numbers based on the results that were available Wendesday morning (two ways: one allowing for fractions of electoral votes, and one not). By both calculations Obama still won, but only with roughly 273 electoral votes (by and large, Romney did better in states that went for Obama than Obama did in states called for Romney).
With proportional allocation of electoral votes, smaller states still have a greater pound-for-pound electoral “punch” than the larger ones, but in the large states the MARGIN of victory carries a greater significance (that’s true across the board, actually). EVERY state becomes a “battleground state.” The only downside I can see is that it’ll delay the media’s ability to call the election early. Who knows? Maybe someday it’ll hinge on which way Hawai’i falls!

I wish to note that the only statewide elected official I voted for was Bill Nelson. What the other idiots did, I had nothing to do with.

The problem is that it’s the year 2073 and this is Obama’s grandson being sworn in. But hey, for Florida that’s “only a little behind schedule”.

@Darsan54
I don’t understand the question. There is no mention of a state official other than the Governor in my post.
