This is news? I thought it’s been known since the Dead Sea scrolls. Mary Magdalene?
Thing is, according to the Catholic church, the oldest writings are considered the authentic scripture. They burnt all the ones they didn’t like, seems they missed some, so now they have to fabricate some twisted logic why these are not.
So the councils and synods and whatever will just deny these scrolls and call them apocryphal. Easy way out of facing the fact that a lot of editing was done to fashion the current bible according to the fashionable ideas at the time (400 A.D.). You know, things like edit out the prominent roles of women in the beginning church, belief in reincarnation, and the big one: dumb it down for the teaming brutish masses as a way to herd them for political gain, and in the process wipe out the memory of what it was REALLY all about: experiencing the kingdom of God within. Some contemporary “scholars” have retranslated it as “among” since Christians have long forgotten what “within” really meant!.
