triple the taxes on booze and give it to state, county govts to help pay for all the law enforcement costs associated with alcohol abuse:

nomad2112, funny! Actually, I could live without most of those – and I’m willing to pay a lot more to keep the ice cream!

Yeah cdward, that’s pretty much where I am. I like believecommonsense’ idea too. This “harmless” drug kills a lot more people every year than anyone will admit.

This will be a very repressed society very, very soon. And the lemmings are just walking into the sea.

If we could just tax stupidity, the solutions to all problems could be financed.

We HAVE found a way to tax stupidity; it’s called government sponsored lotteries. It taxes people who ignore probability statistics and follow dreams instead.
And it’s QUITE the moneymaker!

Wait til you have to buy a lotto ticket for a doctor appointment.

It’s like the idea taxing tobacco makes people quit…
when you tax what people like, they’ll just go without other things to pay for what they want. It won’t work.
if they screw with the market and raise taxes on bad stuff, I expect the already expensive healthy/natural stuff to have their prices forced down.
