Think she’s talking about us?

Of course not. They said critics, not sycophants.
On that note, “C’est la Vie” is the “Ally McBeal” of the funny pages.

M. Smokey’s is a standard, and tired, defense. Probably cooked up by some insecure professional critic. (Do you realize how silly that last phrase sounds?! How much more confused would we be, nonetheless, if we were not led around by the nose and told what we think or should think?)

I can’t say that the “critics” make for more interesting message board forums
I can say that I see more comments from jerks in one day of reading comments here at GoComics than I meet actual jerks in real life in a month
Guess you could call nasty or provocative comments interesting, but I personally am not interested in reading them

People should be able to talk about art freely, whether positive or negative; however, they should be civil regardless.

To paraphrase H. Goering, Whenever I hear the word critic, I reach for my Browning.

He actually said: “Whenever I hear the word Culture, I reach for my Luger.”

You do realize you’re in GoComics, right?

@Doctor Toon
Or is it because they disagreed with your opinions? That seems to be the case when further investigated.
