   No, probably a proverbial “visceral reaction.” Be interesting to know what it is about Michael that caused her to hate him that much— there must be something that us readers don’t know…
   .
   One question, though: since “gossip” has traditionally been made up slop about this or that person, when did the meaning change to be something like repeating what she was told by the “source”, i.e. Michael?
