Irving: My mom e-mailed that if we don't come for Thanksgiving, she and Dad will just have grilled cheese sandwiches. Cathy: Your mother's guilt trip has NO impact on me. ... OK. Maybe it has a tiny impact because I'm so close to you... OK. Maybe it has a LARGE impact... now it's clogging my breathing passages... now I'm choking... aack! OK... OK... of course we'll be there for Thanksgiving! We wouldn't miss it!! Irving: The hidden danger of secondhand guilt.

I am the opposite of Cathy on this one. If I could get out of having to spend Thanksgiving with my boyfriend’s parents I’d be thrilled.

My hubby says he has the best MIL in the world. They adore each other! I have the second-best in-laws, I guess. They’re deceased. :)

When we were first married, we would spend Thanksgiving with my in-laws and Christmas with my parents. It was a great set up, everyone was satisfied with it. After 3 years, both my in-laws had passed away. I miss them.

OK. Maybe I rolled my eyes so hard that … well, you know. [Just how I like things here as always, too.]

    HI, MOM. Greetings, Clan.

My in-laws were in England so never got to spend the holidays with them.
