Charlene: Remember when you could leave town for two weeks and everything would be the same when you got back? Cathy: No. Charlene: No piles of junk mail. No e-mail. No voice mail. No answering machines. You'd come home refreshed and actually stay refreshed! Remember?? Cathy: No. Charlene: Me either. Cathy: Remember when you could leave the room for two minutes and everything would be the same?... Computer: You have 405 new messages
I actually DO recall [although it’s rather vaguely!!!] the days when you could leave town for a vacation — whether for one week or two — and everything would be exactly the same when you got back because no one would put they’re work on your desk while you were gone. Why? Because they did it themselves as they were supposed to! There was some junk mail to wade through but there weren’t any e-mail or voice mail messages to return because those things hadn’t been invented yet [although we did have an answering machine]. I sure wish I could go back to those days again . . . they were so much more blissfully peaceful than it is now!!!!!
