Cathy’s dress color has changed. Do they think we wouldn’t notice?

It seems Cathy’s finally learned over the years to bring 14 changes of clothes wherever she goes so that she’ll have the “right” outfit for the occasion…L

Sadly, this is probably an accurate portrayal of a HS reunion. Some of us go there thinking that everyone has matured and moved on from HS, but the reality is that everyone is still deluding themselves into thinking they’re better than they really are and better than everyone else. The only difference is that you’re not supposed to be yelling it, Irving (and other dude)!
p.s. “I have abs of steel under this gut!” LOL!!!!!!!!

Hello Cathy clan! Happy Monday! There were no tears yesterday (mom or girl) when dropping Jr off at camp yesterday, so that was good. Now I just miss her, although I’m really excited for her because I know this is an adventure for her and big memories are being made! Tomorrow they’ll post some pictures online, so I’m looking forward to those. :-)

And there is one of the really good things about our ‘connected’ age – the ability to post pictures so we can keep tabs on our little ones. I know when my younger daughter and son-in-common-law visit us they leave their malamute at a kennel. The kennel posts daily pictures of all the dogs so my daughter checks every day to make sure he is all right. Enables her to enjoy the visit here without worrying about her ‘baby’. Just wish that sharing was available the first time either of my daughters were away overnight back when they were little.

Hope all the Clan had a good weekend and everyone is ready to face another week.

You couldn’t have hit the nail more squarely on the head if you had tried, lightenup! This is what I found to be absolutely true when I attended MY 10th and 20th high school reunions . . . and why I’ve vowed to NEVER attend another one as long as I live. No matter HOW old those people get, I have the feeling they’re forever going to be stuck in high school where their maturity is concerned! As for the 25th that I “missed” last year and only found out about by accident approximately 6 months after it happened? When I told my husband about it, even he voiced the same opinion I had and that I’ve shared here too: the “reunion committee” didn’t get the word out about it because it was only for those “in the know.” I guess as far as they were concerned, only the “popular” people could come and everyone else could go to hell just as much now as they could 25 years ago. They’re all pathetic. I may not have been one of the “in-crowd” back then but I’ve got a great life now, a wonderful group of friends [including my “Cathy” family here] and I’m very happy with the way things turned out for me. I just wonder how many of those former “popular” classmates of mine can say the exact same thing — and actually MEAN it because it’s totally TRUE?!? Probably not very many.

Meanwhile . . . I’m glad to hear everything went well getting Jr. off to camp yesterday. Don’t forget to keep us updated on how things are going for her! ;-)

Dr. Billy: Don’t know where you are, what you’re doing or if you’ll even see this . . . but if you do, please know that your friends here on “Cathy’s Corner” hope that you, Aaron and LMB are safe and sound and that you BOTH will come back to us again soon. Hope you’re having a wonderful 38th birthday today!!! Love you!!!!!

You are so right when you said that many people don’t ever grow up past their high school years. The gang I hung around with in HS was definitely not in the ‘popular’ group. Years later we found out that several of the ‘in crowd’ were very envious of our little gang as we seemed to have a lot more fun at what we did – including our parties. I guess the ‘popular’ kids were too busy posturing and/or bragging about their parent’s money, their prowess on the football field or cheerleader squad etc. to truly enjoy what they were doing. Now I am very happy I was not one of ‘them’.

For the two major high school reunions there have been since graduation, most of the gang did not attend. Instead we held our own reunion. It worked out just great as the ‘party house’ was in sight of the high school so we could still enjoy the music and fireworks without having to fight the crowds.

The gang still has an annual reunion (our 39th this year) and I am really looking forward to the weekend of the 26th. Only 5 guys attending this year but the 40th will have a few more attending. Unfortunately the gang is a little smaller now with five members no longer alive. This getting old sucks sometimes!

Close – class of 1968 and 1969 (I stuck around an extra year as I was not yet ready to strike out on my own at university – turned out to be the best year I had at high school)

Back from vacation and catching up — this is the first I’ve seen of the “new” and “improved?” Irving. OMG — it is now I who need the brain bleach. What a shocker to come back to.

Sorry I missed Lil’s birthday last week — hope she had lots of fun!!

Glad you remembered Dr. Billy’s birthday Mom — those guys were special!!

As for reunions, I have always had fun at mine — and I ignore those who flash in and try to impress. One of the sweetest moments was when one of the guys who is now a farmer showed up after 40 years and wondered why anyone wanted to see him again — he was JUST a farmer. We all LOVED him in HS and now we kinda know why. We have them every 5 years and most of the planners are friends from grade school, so it’s lots of fun to reminisce. These days, these are the only folks that remember me when I was a little kid.

    Speaking of “flash”, lindz …

I was gonna say that we should be fine as long as Irving doesn’t try to flash the reunion to show off his abs. Ugh … brain bleach—pronto!
