    Bwahahahaha!!! Good one, Charlene!! XD

    Good morning, Cathy clan!

@legaleagle – I do NOT appreciate you deliberately misinterpreting my comment yesterday, so I responded. I will not stand by as you put inaccurate words in my mouth. If you want to create a fight, then go elsewhere. (I won’t be surprised if you want to continue what you said yesterday, but I will not discuss anything further with you. You obviously have anger issues that you need to resolve on your own.)

    It’s never too late Cathy.

Even though I’m usually pretty quiet, I used to look to the “Cathy Clan” as my surrogate family. I loved to read the comments and see how everyone truly cared for everyone else. I don’t have a lot of that in my family so it was touching to read the comments, even if I didn’t make one myself. There seems to be a lot of animosity lately, I hope it gets fixed soon. Have a wonderful day everyone!

@lightenup and @legaleagle: All of us are victims of our past to some extent, but some more than others. As a result, sometimes we say things that offend others. One of the advantages of a forum like this is that we have the opportunity to think over what we have said and consider how others will take it before we post it. So, in theory, it should be easier for us to avoid offending others online than in face-to-face conversation. Unfortunately, in practice, what sometimes happens is that we are more likely to offend others online because of the anonymity, and because others can’t see our facial expressions or body language. Whether online or in person, human communication is imperfect.

It’s only a comic strip, everyone. No need to take it personally. After all, you don’t have to read or comment on it, if you don’t like the subject matter.

Take a deep breath and relax.

I wish I had the talent to make certain people stop talking and go away that Charlene just displayed!
“Past your prime, Cathy???” Pshaw. I feel like every year is my new prime.
    New week, new ’toons…everybody smile!

    @Hobbes

Hi, Hobbes!!!!! It’s so nice to see you joining us here again today! I always enjoy reading your comments over on “C&H” (which are the ONLY comments I’ve been reading over there lately) and wish you’d join us here more often!

Normally, we’re such a nice, polite, friendly and respectful group of people here but the subject of Mother’s Day REALLY set off a firestorm of unpleasantness that made me extremely uncomfortable — not to mention unhappy — “watching” it all happen from this side of my computer. It’s a truly unfortunate fact of life that not everyone had Ward and June Cleaver for parents (and that includes me too), which is probably very hard for the lucky people who DID to understand — so some people here took offense at those who DON’T love, honor and respect their mothers (whether birth or step) like the lucky ones do theirs because of the miserable, rotten and maybe even abusive childhoods they had to suffer through. So the next thing you know, people that used to get along so well began turning on each other in a very uncharacteristic way from what we’re all used to. I’m hopeful that cooler heads will soon prevail and we can all go back to being “friends” again. I like our nice friendly little group here and think it would be a real shame to lose what we’ve got — or at least HAD (up until now) — and I’m hoping that, deep down, everyone else feels the same way that I do. I guess we’ll just have to see.

Meanwhile, I definitely think you’re right when it comes to anonymity making people a lot bolder when it comes to insults and bullying because of exactly that: no fear that if you said the exact same thing to their face, the end result MIGHT be you getting your face punched in by someone you just so rudely, purposely and without conscience offended.

I hope you’ll visit us again soon!!!!! :-)

I find it hard to believe that the average woman is as miserable and self-critical as she is!

Nobody can be harder on you than yourself. When I judge my ‘minuses’ to other people’s ‘pluses’, I always come up on the losing end. That is what I figure most people do.

@GretchensMom: Boy, I don’t know……. This Cathy group seems like a really tough crowd…… I think I’d better go back to Calvin and Hobbes where things are civil…….. (Just kidding.)

I forgot to mention that if the Calvin and Hobbes strip is specifically about government / politics / the economy (like today’s), you should skip reading the comments that day.

And, yet another [eye-roll] should just about cover it.

Sheesh—wish I could stock up on those in bulk. Just sayin’.

    HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.

@GretchensMom: I just looked back at your departure comment on Calvin and Hobbes, and it turns out that it was more definitive than I had remembered it.

But, wait………… You said that you would stop reading the comments, but you didn’t say that you would stop writing comments!

And………… Your comment was late in the day, so hardly anyone saw it!

And………… Several of the posters who saw it told you not to leave!

    And……….. and…………….. !
