Newlyweds Cathy and Irving navigate the treacherous waters of couple-hood. From pampered pets to prying parents, they’ve got a lot to learn! Wedding or not, it’s still all about Cathy - she personifies the young career woman and her typical daily obstacles. Ice cream, panic attacks, stress and love are all in a day’s work. We read, we identify, we laugh. Who could ask for more?

Everyone can identify with her shopping, bills, taxes, planning for the future and coping with her husband’s incessant computer golf games. Whether you are a newlywed, single, or have been married for decades, all will enjoy the daily predicaments of Cathy and Irving.

Don’t worry, someone will burn popcorn soon, and it’ll overpower the cabbage smell.
Good morning, nutty Cathy clan!

That cabbage soup is disgusting.

@Macushlalondra
I thought it was pretty tasty, especially with a sliced kielbasa tossed in.

Since there are so many people at the office who absolutely can’t stand the smell of cabbage soup, maybe Cathy should do them all a favor by eating it at home for dinner and bring something else for lunch instead . . . except that she probably doesn’t want to stink up her house with the smell of cabbage soup either!
Hi, rgcviper!
Hi, lightenup! Hope you’re feeling well today.
Hello and Happy Thursday, fellow “Cathy” nuts! One more day after today then it’s the weekend again!!!!! ;-)

Hi, lindz.coop! Thanks for the great advice yesterday! I’ve already started doing some of your suggestions with the current diet I’m on.
I do a Slim-Fast at around noon (which serves as both breakfast and lunch); then at mid-afternoon, I might have a snack (like a banana, carrots, etc.) if I’m hungry; then for dinner, I try to keep things as low-caloried as I can, I don’t put as much on my plate as I used to and I don’t go back for seconds (which is really hard to do sometimes — especially at my mother’s house!). As for desserts, we don’t keep stuff like that in the house — it’s just way too tempting. My mom used to always have something sweet for us to eat after dinner on Sunday evenings at her house but I told her at the end of December that with the start of yet (another) new diet in January, we wouldn’t be eating them anymore so not to make them for us (and she hasn’t).
I don’t totally deprive myself though. I have dinner out with my best friend every other month and we usually have dessert afterwards. Sometimes we split it if we want the same thing; other times we each get our own if we want something different from the other one. When that happens, I only eat about half of it anyway and bring the other half home as a treat for my husband (although lately, he’s been telling me NOT to do that anymore. He’s being a whole lot better on our diet than I am but then, he’s got more to lose than I do, too).
Sometimes it’s really difficult being hungry but it can be worth it when I step on my scale every Sunday morning and sometimes see another pound gone since the week before!!!!! :-)

Sounds like you’re doing great Mom!! The downsized portions are really the key. I usually go to restaurants with my husband and we always split the meal. If I go out with girlfriends, I too bring at least half of what I order home. Then I eat it for lunch the next day. I allow myself deserts, but only a small portion — like one (ONE) scoop of ice cream, or a handful of chips or a Starbucks latte. Most of those things are not high in WW points as long as you don’t overdo it. If I get hungry, I have a teaspoon of peanut butter or cottage cheese with a zero points apple to tide me over to the next meal. Kinda cute — I saw in a WW mag today apple PB sandwiches (2 slices of apple, with peanut butter in between). I also don’t eat anything I don’t really want — no more well-meaning friends talking me into stuff I don’t even like.
