Newlyweds Cathy and Irving navigate the treacherous waters of couple-hood. From pampered pets to prying parents, they’ve got a lot to learn! Wedding or not, it’s still all about Cathy - she personifies the young career woman and her typical daily obstacles. Ice cream, panic attacks, stress and love are all in a day’s work. We read, we identify, we laugh. Who could ask for more?
Cathy is the Everywoman. She deals with diets, self-esteem, in-laws, and letting her husband know that she is the boss. Everyone can identify with her shopping, bills, taxes, planning for the future and coping with her husband’s incessant computer golf games. Whether you are a newlywed, single, or have been married for decades, all will enjoy the daily predicaments of Cathy and Irving.

And be so smug about it at the same time. The smirk on her face in the last panel makes me wish that Charlene had just cut through the nonsense and said, “Couldn’t get a date, huh?”

p.s. I meant to add earlier, but was not awake enough… I’m fortunate that there are plenty of doctors in the Atlanta area to choose from, including a couple of MS centers. My neurologist is the director of one of the MS centers, so he is usually on top of the latest research. The only part where he and I differ is that he wants me to be on a drug, and while I’m doing fine, I don’t want to add more chemicals to my body. I know many will disagree with me, but I feel like diet and environmental factors play just a strong a part in a body’s ability to fight disease as a drug does. Now, don’t get me wrong, if I was diagnosed with cancer, I would treat it with drugs, but in the meantime, I eat and do things to prevent getting cancer.
@ hendelca – I feel for you and your community. I always thought that if I had the knowledge, it would have been great to be a doctor in a small town where I could have a personal connection with my patients, make a real impact, and have a sense of community. It’s sad that many go to the cities and large towns because they’re more “exciting” or pay better.

I agree with your feelings about drugs. If you are doing fine you don’t need them – unless there is proof that they are still doing something for you. To pump unnecessary chemicals into the body is not a good idea in my mind.
I also feel a person’s mental attitude really affects the body’s ability to fight various diseases and conditions. A positive attitude, like you have, can work wonders – better than drugs a lot of the time.
I am finally fighting off the depression caused by my friend’s death a month ago and now, for the first time in 6 weeks, my sinusitis is starting to improve. I spent 4 hours in front of the computer today and that is more than I have been able to in the last couple of weeks. Just got to keep thinking positive – or even the antibiotics won’t work!.

Hi Cathyites!! Happy Valentine’s Day (a little late — sorry). Cathy does have the right idea — I hope she follows thru on it. I especially like the part about dancing with her dog — Elektra (sp?) will be so happy.
