Well, Cathy, if it’s any consolation, 11 years later most of us do have all that stuff now…

Forget the innocent look on that salesman’s face — he is enjoying himself, mostly because he knows he’ll be selling her something else!

Mom, thanks for digging deeper into the DCFD site. Wasn’t Aaron hurt another time, and does anyone know the date for that? If there are no mentions of these incidents, then we have to look harder at *AnonaMouse*’s theory that we may have been served some fiction. I would hate that, but I would surely like to know whether to keep worrying or to move on.

Sometimes people invent an online persona with a more interesting life than their own simply because their own real life is so awful. I’m thinking of people with severe disabilities or even terminal illness. Not of course that I know anything much about our friends here, other than what they told us.

One of the last things Aaron said, shortly before Hallowe’en, was that Dr Billy was “going to put him in the lab again”, and he hoped he wouldn’t be turned into something horrible. Now, that may have been just a throwaway line, as I thought when I read it, but in the light of their silence ever since – well, I have wondered whether there was more to that “lab” than I realised.

I deeply and genuinely hope that I’m wrong, and that we’ll hear some good news from them soon. But sadly, I’m old enough to realise that things on the Internet aren’t always exactly as they seem to be.

Yes. I did that when I bought an ’XM" radio. Thought all I had to do was plug it in. Turns out it is more technical than that. I had at least three different tech support “people” trying to help me. Never got it. I was in tears. I just sent the thing back.

I remember that line & thought it was strange at the time too. I’ve had some recurring doubts about their existance . Even more since the ND. hoax. I would hope this has not been one.
I still remember them in my Prayers. In any case, the Man Upstairs knows.
God Bless us all for caring.

You beat me to it, lightenup.

Although, I wasn’t going to flat-out SAY it. Um … thanks? Ha.

Thanks also to everyone for continuing to search for Aaron and Billy. We have a great, and caring, group here.

    HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.

That line must have gone right past me at the time, so I’ll have to go back and read to see if it gives me any weird vibes now. But my first instinct is that I think it just meant that Aaron had to be tested for any reoccurrence of cancer, and they were just being lighthearted about a serious subject.
After I talked to the fire station last month and they didn’t know of an Aaron, I’ll admit that I did consider the possibility that there may not be an actual Aaron or Billy, but quite honestly it doesn’t bother me if they were having some fun, although I think most of it (if not all) was true. There were a lot of details that I think would be too much to make up. Plus if you search for Aaron and DC firefighter, there is an Aaron Foster, so there is one even if they told me there wasn’t. Plus they had their pictures as their avatars and even if those were fake (which I would understand bc I don’t think I would put my real picture up), they were still nice and kind and I consider them my friends. So, if they returned tomorrow and said they were abducted by aliens, I would be fine with that explanation and be thrilled they were back. So that’s where I’m coming from now… whether they are really Aaron and Billy (or Jim and Bob), they were still 2 people who made me smile a lot and made me feel good and who I consider to be my friends and I miss very much and hope they come back again.

Hi Cathyites!! She should have assumed that he was lying.

I agree lightenup, whatever their status or situation was, they seemed to be really nice people and I would still love to have them back. In fact I would prefer that they were spoofin us to something bad happening to them.

    Well, I’m back, folks—to celebrate a milestone …

My 4,000th comment here on GoComics!

I know I’m nowhere near people like lightenup, but a milestone nonetheless.

And there’s no other group with whom I’d rather celebrate.

Cheers, and here’s to my next 4,000 comments!

I agree with you, marmar, and also with rgcviper, lightenup, lindz.coop and kittycatpawsare. I’d been reading the comics here for a long time before I signed up. When I did, it was because the crowd at Cathy’s seemed such a warm, friendly, caring group of people, and I felt I wanted to be able to join in with the conversation sometimes.

Aaron and Billy were a big part of the community – with their apparent affection for each other, their canine pal LMB and, not least, their fruity, creamy desserts. Whoever they are in real life, their online personalities were very good company and fun to chat with.

I too would much rather hear that Aaron and Billy are really a pair of 13-year-olds having a giggle, or one old lady of 85 making use of her cookery expertise, or two people who would love to be able to play a real part in the world outside but can’t, than to know that something awful has happened, and we have lost them for ever.

If you’re out there, A and B, still reading Cathy’s adventures but now anonymously or even under a different name – we would love to hear that you’re well and happy, and we would welcome you back with open arms. Please don’t be too shy, or too embarrassed. We love you!

    :-) <3
