Newlyweds Cathy and Irving navigate the treacherous waters of couple-hood. From pampered pets to prying parents, they’ve got a lot to learn! Wedding or not, it’s still all about Cathy - she personifies the young career woman and her typical daily obstacles. Ice cream, panic attacks, stress and love are all in a day’s work. We read, we identify, we laugh. Who could ask for more?
Cathy is the Everywoman. She deals with diets, self-esteem, in-laws, and letting her husband know that she is the boss. Everyone can identify with her shopping, bills, taxes, planning for the future and coping with her husband’s incessant computer golf games. Whether you are a newlywed, single, or have been married for decades, all will enjoy the daily predicaments of Cathy and Irving.

Good I thought I was having a “Ground Hog Day” like Bill Murray.

Thought it looked familiar. Cathy should ask for a female salesclerk.

There was no “Calvin and Hobbes” yesterday, either. Is there a postal strike on somewhere?

At least there’s color today!
Hello everyone! I think we fixed the problem with the water in our basement, but I guess time will tell.

Oh, Cathy. You just have to learn to communicate in geek: I want 4 GB of RAM, etc. Then ask whether option A or option B is better.

Typical of pretty much any situation when it comes to salesmen and women: Cathy’s being “blown off” and totally disregarded despite her telling him she’s done her research and wants to compare them all to each other in order to find the one that’s right for her. She should either ask for his manager or take her business elsewhere — that’s what I’d do if some salesman treated ME like that!
Hi, rgcviper!
Hello and Happy Monday to all my “Cathyite” friends. Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

lightenup: How goes the water leak? Hope you’ve got it stopped!
Meanwhile . . .
I tried earlier to find Dr. Billy on the N.I.H. directory of employees but do you know how incredibly DIFFICULT it is to find someone in a situation like that?!? Not knowing his last name or what department he specifically works in is a real hindrance to finding him!!!!! Just entering only the name William under the “All Institutes and Centers” listing yields 500 names and in the event he’s listed as Billy, there’s 253 of those!!! Trying to call the N.I.H. directly would probably lead me nowhere since that’s a government agency and we all know how super-secret the government can be!!!!! Anyone remember anything more than I do that can maybe help us find him? I hate to give up hope on our dear friends but I’m just about out of ideas and don’t know what else to do. It’ll be 12 weeks this coming Friday since they completely disappeared without a word and I’m beginning to think something terrible might have happened to them when Superstorm Sandy hit their area. I don’t like having those thoughts but it’s so hard keeping the faith that everything’s okay when yet ANOTHER day — day after day — passes and we’re still not hearing anything from or about them.

Hi Cathyites!! This comic really doesn’t have a Sunday update. The Calvin & Hobbs update finally did post — you can check it by going back a day. Last week I got no comics until I complained and then I had still missed a couple of days. Don’t know what’s wrong, but I hope they get it fixed soon. Some of us pay for these comics.
As for the comic — the sales clerk is using what we therapists call “broken record” so that she will either just shut up & buy it or go away. He definitely could be a little more helpful to say the least.
I hope your leaks are fixed lightenup.

@GretchensMom
I know, G’sMom!!! I miss those guys and it’s soo wrong to not have them here. I keep hoping that they’ll magically post one day and just say something like “We’ve been so busy, sorry about that, but we’re back now!” (Fingers crossed) But I too, have sad thoughts that something bad has happened. However, I don’t think it was anything related to Sandy (mostly due to timing and location – it was just too soon and didn’t hit DC too badly, unless they went north to help with something, and even then I think they would have said something). I think that something happened to one of them (probably sweet Aaron due to his job and other injuries and history), and they’ve been so consumed with that issue that the Cathy group has been forgotten, not on purpose, just because they have more important things to deal with.
Like you, I think of the worst, which I HATE because they’re like family, but it’s the only thing that makes sense. It eats at me a lot, even if I don’t mention it, which I don’t like doing because sometimes I struggle with depression, so I desperately need something positive in my life to focus on when times get tough. And the Cathy group and the comics usually are highlights of my day, so I hope it doesn’t appear that I don’t care about them if I don’t mention them every day. I think about them both, but try to keep some hope alive that they’ll reappear one day.
I tried the NIH angle too, but William is such a difficult name to search for, so I gave that up. I think our only hope is to keep trying the fire stations. The one I called was on 8th St, but maybe that was the wrong one. Maybe if I visit in person that would help too. My mom really needs more help unfortunately, so I anticipate going back again, maybe over the summer. Or maybe someone else could call and maybe they will talk to someone different who knows Aaron. Just some thoughts…. I hope they come back soon too! ((hugs))

I tried following up on the fact that Billy got an award last winter but was unable to find anything – probably because I don’t remember exactly when it was given to him. Thought there might be a press release or something that would give his full name. If anyone else remembers the details, please give the search a try – I too keep thinking the worst and I don’t like doing that.

Billy said he was involved in oncological research – but that wouldn’t narrow down the search much.
The abrupt disappearance happened before Sandy hit, so I wouldn’t think the storm was to blame. Even if they’d had to move home due to storm damage, they would have the Net back by now.
My fear is that something happened to one of the boys, or to LMB – or to a family member. Whatever happened took them over for a long time – and it’s hard to come back to a web community when you’ve been away for a while. Everybody seems to have moved on without you.
I think everybody who knew Aaron and Billy only a little bit must miss them. They were cheerful, funny, kind and helpful – they made us laugh, smile and sometimes cry. Every day I come here hoping there will be a message from them, but – it hasn’t happened yet.
