Newlyweds Cathy and Irving navigate the treacherous waters of couple-hood. From pampered pets to prying parents, they’ve got a lot to learn! Wedding or not, it’s still all about Cathy - she personifies the young career woman and her typical daily obstacles. Ice cream, panic attacks, stress and love are all in a day’s work. We read, we identify, we laugh. Who could ask for more?
Cathy is the Everywoman. She deals with diets, self-esteem, in-laws, and letting her husband know that she is the boss. Everyone can identify with her shopping, bills, taxes, planning for the future and coping with her husband’s incessant computer golf games. Whether you are a newlywed, single, or have been married for decades, all will enjoy the daily predicaments of Cathy and Irving.

Better call Irving to program your new phone.
Cathy is clearly incapable.

New technology is a pain in the butt, you have to jump through so many hoops for it to work.

I have kept one Trimline phone that I can plug into a phone jack if a power outage knocks out my other phones. Also, I refuse to give up my landline as so many are doing. I’ve had the same number for thirty years and can’t let go! Any of you all as behind the times as me? Oh, no smart phone either — just a very basic cell phone.
Belated happy new year wishes to all the Clan!

Yes – you are not alone. Still have wired landline and a very basic cell phone. Evidently the cell will take pictures but I have never tried it – I prefer to use a real camera!

I had an old trimline wall phone plugged in my kitchen jack in case of a power outage also until about a month ago when I broke down and bought a new one. It was so old you could hear it dailing like a old fashion phone. Iv’e had my number for more than 30 years, too. No smart phone either.Just a simple flip phone.

I do keep a regular landline phone in my closet in case of power outage, otherwise I use a cordless landline along with a cell phone. My cell phone is a smart phone though.

Unfortunately, land lines are going digital thru the computer interface and need to be plugged in to work. Therefore, no electricity means no phone. Makes one wonder why keep it?

Yup, still keeping the land line. I can remember when my dad’s phone bill was $3.48/month and if it went to $3.49, I had to give him the penny. I do have a smart phone tho.

Hi to other Cathyites!! Glad to know I’m not alone in my old fashioned ways.

Yeah—the main purpose of my (smart) phone is to make calls, although I also use a scheduling app.
HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.

I really don’t like talking, or listening, on digital phones. So we have an ordinary (a.k.a. REAL) landline phone, plus a basic mobile which I use for texting. No smartiephones in this house!
I don’t see the point of having a computer that tries to be as small and incomprehensible as a phone (Windows 8) or a phone that wants to grow up and become a computer. I’m quite happy knowing which one is which, thank you very much!

We have a lineline phone and a cordless lineline phone. I don’t need a phone that talks to me or has so much going on for what i just want to call or have someone call me that’s all. And we do have cell phones just in case something happens and we need it,. Hope all is well with the cathy clad great to talk to all of you. : )
