   Cathy may be on the right track. At least a fabulous sweater coat, if she takes it home, will be there for her whenever she needs it. But then again, there may come a day when it tells her (without words) that she looks fat. Dang it, you can’t even trust a sweater coat to be the perfect companion.

   Many years ago I was given some money for my birthday, and I bought an all-wool coat. It was a lovely blue, had a nice collar, fitted well.

   I wore it once . . . and then went back to my warm and washable ones.
