Who would be classless enough to invite his ex-fiancée to his wedding?

That’s as weird as reading tea leaves. Trouble is, Cathy’s mom was obviously right. Cathy’s Bizzaro World.

Morning Susan not yet arrived. Morning lightenup I’ll come by later with a desser to make the grumpies go away. Afternoon Bronzepony and AnonaMona.

    Hi Mom!
    :-D

LMB went out at 7:00 and then came back in, zoomed up the stairs, and waited for me. We got 2 more hours of sleep this rainy morning. Life is good!

Who in his right mind would propose to Cathy?
Remember: Irving was NEVER in his right mind!!
Good morning, Aaron (thank you for that adorable picture of LMB yesterday), Lightenup, Drs. Billy and KFG, Legaleagle, GsMom, gmartin, and the rest of the “Cathy” nuts.

Good morning everyone. Hi. I’m Rachel from N. California. I have been a lurker for a little while now. lol And have decided this is the nicest group. I don’t comment everyday, but like to when the thought strikes. Just wanted to introduce myself since I kind of know you all now. lol Have been a Cathy nut for years. She’s my alltime fav. And I can read my daughter by the tone of her voice. Have a great day!

Hi Rachel! Welcome! You’re right, this is a great bunch. I don’t comment everyday either, but enjoy the banter.

It’s like reading Rorschach ink blots or Braille dots that only a mom can interpret…

Hello to the crowd so far (how cool)! Good morning, legaleagle, Aaron and Susan!
Hi to the newcomers and lurkers, ncalifgirl58, Molly mcgee and BJIllistrated! So glad you’re coming out of “hiding” to join us! Always, always love hearing from everyone!
And thanks Aaron for a dessert for my grumpies. :-) They’re slowly going away, as I interact with nice people. I just HATE rude, selfish, mean people, and I hung out with one on Friday and dealt with another one on Sunday just as I was getting over the one from Friday. Makes me want to quit everything and be a hermit… Fortunately there’s still nice people around. :-)
Regarding food, my husband got a Big Green Egg on Saturday and he made some ribs yesterday. Yummy!!! It was a lot of work, but they were delicious! Anyone else use an Egg here? We don’t make many desserts in my house (because I’d end up eating them all), but I do like some tasty meat dishes. Other than chocolate, I think I have a savory tooth… :-)
Hello to everyone else yet to come! I’ll call you by name tomorrow… I think this post will be long enough!
    Have a good Monday!

Okay lightenup you get dibs on the jumbo cupcake. We’ll settle for any leftovers :-D

My cure for mean and rude? Hold your hand up and say “Stop!” Walk away. The end.

Here we go again! Thank goodness virtual calories only add virtual weight. Thanks again Aaron, I’ll settle for leftovers.

Speaking of ice cream (we were, right?) I forgot to answer scrabblefiend’s question yesterday — sorry sorry. Here in very rural NH we don’t have megamarts, so we can only find plain and Heath Klondike ice cream bars. When I get back to DC, we’ll check to see if they have Klondike Rocky Road.

    @lightenup

lightenup: Just saw your “rude people” comments yesterday and today. I’ll bet I’ve got a story that will probably TOP anything you dealt with!

Last Thursday, my mother invited her niece — my cousin — for dinner Sunday (yesterday). Dinner was ready at the appointed time of 6:00 and we waited . . . and waited . . . and waited for her to show up. At 6:15 she finally called. We figured she was going to apologize for being late because she had to take her (diabetic) medication before leaving home but that she’d be right there. Guess again! She was calling 15 minutes late to say she wasn’t coming after all! Apparently, sometime around 4:00 yesterday, a fasting blood glucose test was set up for today so she couldn’t eat anything after 6:00 (yesterday) in order to prepare for it. Why she didn’t tell the nurse setting up the appointment that that wouldn’t work for her, I don’t know because this invitation had been extended — and accepted — 3 days earlier. And why she waited until 6:15 to call is really a mystery to me, as well! She claimed she tried to call for 15 minutes starting at 6:00 to let us know but the phone was busy and she couldn’t get through. Granted, my husband was on the phone dealing with some financial business for my mother . . . but what about 4:00 when the appointment was set up? Or 4:30? Or 5:00? Or even 5:30?!? Then, to top it off, she invited my mom to dinner at her house tonight to make up for it and by the way . . . could my mom bring my cousin (and her daughter) some leftover dinner and dessert from last night when she does?!?! Mom didn’t really say anything — to her or to us afterwards — because she’s 76 years old, very “old school” mannered and is just one of those kind of people who wouldn’t dream of saying anything because she’d be more afraid of offending them by expressing her opinion of their rude, rotten behavior . . . but I could tell she was hurt and upset. As for me, I was absolutely shocked and outraged at the whole incident! It’s a good thing I hadn’t been the one to answer the phone or there would have been some very heated words exchanged — at least, on my part. I love my cousin but I lost all respect for her at that moment in time and I don’t see any way of her ever getting it back. It was so rude that it’s completely unforgivable where I’m concerned. To paraphrase Mr. D’Arcy from Pride And Prejudice: “Once my good opinion is lost, it’s lost forever.” And as our good friend Cathy would say: AACK!!!!!!!!!!

Now I’ve got to go take a pill for my headache. I’ll write back again shortly regarding the actual comic itself and to say my usual “Hi’s” to everyone.

If this “ex-boyfriend who once proposed” to Cathy was all that special, then why didn’t she marry him?!? There’s a reason why he’s her “ex” and apparently has been for quite some time . . . so why cry over him getting married to someone else? Granted, it’s bizarre that he would send her a wedding invitation but if she was the one who dumped him (because we ALL know how picky and critical Cathy is regarding men!), then it may be his way of saying: “Hey! I’ve moved on! No hard feelings! Come celebrate with us!” OR . . . he invited her to his wedding just so that he can rub it in that’s he’s now getting married and she’s still pathetically single!

Welcome Rachel / ncalifgirl58! Glad you’re coming out of the “shadowy world of the lurkers” and have decided to join us on a more regular basis!!! While I don’t read anything on Go Comics but “Cathy”, “Calvin & Hobbes”, “Pluggers” and “For Better Or For Worse”, I can’t imagine there being a better group than ours anywhere else out there!!!!! Our little “family” here is just so sweet, friendly and respectful towards each other that I can’t wait to come here everyday! And when I can’t be here (like on Sunday’s when we spend the day with my mom), I really miss all my “friends” and look forward to Monday rolling around when I know I’ll be back to “see” them all again. Glad you’re now one of them! ;-)

    HI, AARON & DR. BILLY!!!!!

Aaron: Got anymore of those jumbo cupcakes to take care of my case of the grumpies today?!? Granted, it’s not as bad (today) as it was yesterday but I’m in nowhere near as good a mood as I normally am . . . even for a Monday! [sigh]

Good afternoon, lightenup, lightenupjr., Dr. K.F.G., Susan, lindz.coop, rgcviper, gmforde, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, hendelca, Gator007, legaleagle48, mollie05, AnonaMona, catsarge10, millie p, soonergal, Bronzepony, Molly mcgee, simpsonfan2, Shyygirl27, Violet Bay, BJIllistrated, ncalifgirl58, FinnyGirl and all the REST of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here today. As always, it’s really great to “see” you all and if you’re new here . . . WELCOME TO CATHY’S NUTHOUSE!!!!! GLAD YOU’RE JOINING IN ON ALL THE FUN!!!!! ;-)

I think you need more than a cupcake to cheer you up after that lot, GretchensMom.

Have a big virtual hug as well – oh, mind out, you’ll squash . . .

Hmmm. Aaron, have you got another cupcake, please?
