Newlyweds Cathy and Irving navigate the treacherous waters of couple-hood. From pampered pets to prying parents, they’ve got a lot to learn! Wedding or not, it’s still all about Cathy - she personifies the young career woman and her typical daily obstacles. Ice cream, panic attacks, stress and love are all in a day’s work. We read, we identify, we laugh. Who could ask for more?
Cathy is the Everywoman. She deals with diets, self-esteem, in-laws, and letting her husband know that she is the boss. Everyone can identify with her shopping, bills, taxes, planning for the future and coping with her husband’s incessant computer golf games. Whether you are a newlywed, single, or have been married for decades, all will enjoy the daily predicaments of Cathy and Irving.

It’s called inflation, Mom. What that means is that even though we make more money now than you would have in your day (if you had worked outside the home), we can buy less with it than you could have back then.

Most of that is true, Cathy’s mom. Although I can find gym shoes on sale for much cheaper, many don’t wear pantyhose anymore (although they’ll spend money on crazy stuff like Spanx), and usually an iced tea that costs $2.75 is huge and you get free refills (although I’m not an iced tea or soda drinker). The car price is pretty on track though, sorry, Cathy’s mom.
Good morning, legaleagle, Aaron and Susan! Loved your car yesterday, Aaron! Very cool! Sounds like PT is going well with all of your activity. :-)
GretchensMom, where are you? Hope all is okay…
Hello to Billy, KFG, rgcviper, lindz.coop, hendelca, Mona, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, gmforde, soonergal, lippyfish, Mai Tai, Willi Nilli, mollie, AnonaMona, Bronzepony, simpsonfan2, Hobbes and all the other Cathy nuts rolling around here today!

Cathy’s mom wears an apron to a restaurant?
Is she part of the kitchen staff?
And it looks like the saleswoman is moonlighting as a waitress.
Good morning, Aaron (hope you arrive soon), Billy, Lightenup, KFG, GsMom, gmartin, and the rest of the “Cathy” nuts.

Susan I read somewhere that Cathy G (the author) knew how to draw sales and staff people one way. And in real life, they all look the same to me too.

Cathy’s mom does need to get out more. But, uh, without that apron. All that says is Watch out, crazy person alert.
Morning lightenup I’m missing MOM! too. I pouted last night when I realized she had been here yesterday. As we’ve all had, maybe Internet connectivity problems. Heat and storms, you know?
No more PT. Just normal healing going on. LMB sits at various doors or by my bike to give me subtle hints. He’s a tougher taskmaster than my PT folks were.

Cathy’s mom is always wearing that apron, whether at home or out in public. Wonder what she’s hiding under it that she doesn’t want anyone to see?!?!? If it’s the few extra pounds she’s carrying around, I’ve got news for her . . . wearing that apron isn’t fooling anybody where that’s concerned!!!!! ;-)
HI AARON & DR. BILLY!!!!!
Aaron: Glad to hear p.t. is officially over. Yay!!!!! Now that tomorrow is the first of August, you’ll be completely healed and back to work again before you know it!!! Sorry I couldn’t be here yesterday to share in the delicious-looking Peach and Blackberry Shortcakes Dr. Billy’s mom made Sunday evening [whimper!!!]. How did they turn out with a little less than the recipe’s recommended sugar content?
lindz.coop: Congrats on passing your test!
Good afternoon, lightenup, lightenupjr., K.F.G., Susan, lindz.coop, rgcviper, gmforde, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, hendelca, Gator007, legaleagle48, mollie05, AnonaMona, soonergal, Willi Nilli, Bronzepony, PhoebeDog, Doctor Toon, samfran60, janinabarnes, simpsonfan2, Molly mcgee, artybee, flake-67121, Hobbes (if you should happen to drop by) and all the REST of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here today . . . and if you’re new here . . . WELCOME TO CATHY’S NUTHOUSE!!!!! ;-)

Yay it’s Mom!. :-D The recipe was a lot better cutting back on the sugar. We’re also going to try Truvia for baking on the next dessert. Honey was actually a great choice for the blackberry creme topping. Smoooooth!

“I miss the $5,500 Corvette.”
I would not buy a new ford cobra back in 60s because the best deal I could get for $6,995.00 and I wasn’t going to pay $7,000.00 for any car. BIG MISTAKE

hi mom!
Cathy’s mom — geez it’s hard to keep my eye rolls under control, right rgcviper ?
Had to hold off on my nightly phone call to Aaron with a thunderstorm passing through. I’m still staying with a buddy from work. I check out the house once a day but home alone just bites. I’m about ready for bed too. Long day.

This is so funny remembering that my mother used to spend $400 on a good pair of shoes for herself after all us girls moved away from home and never batted an eye…something I still would not do….too bad Cathy’s mom doesn’t know to take off her apron when leaving the house. Haven’t been on recently while traveling because of no regular internet. Heading back home tomorrow so back to my own bed once again!!!

Choose carefully, Cathy’s mom.
@Billy
You nailed it on the eye-roll. You’re like a psychic!

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned how the price of gasoline has gone up. When I was dating my now husband, WAY BACK IN THE OLDEN DAYS, a gallon of gas was $.19. That’s nineteen cents. But also, a good week’s pay was probably $50. So it all evens out.
