    I pay attention to the ads and click on any that are interesting, because they pay for the comics, but I’m not going to look at the ads when there are no comics at all.

    Well, since I can’t see any of my 23 comics yet (grrr) I’m going to assume that Cathy is being a nutjob and most likely her Mom is letting her be herself because she loves her. Or Irving and Cathy are interacting in their own way that will only make our eyes roll too far up into our brains. 50/50 that I’m right and wrong.

    Hello fellow Cathyites. Hopefully there will be something to see later in the day.

    Too plausible to be funny.

    @GreggW

    Which only goes to show I’m not really Clair Voyant after all.

    Maybe I’m Crystal Ball. ??

    I have to say that I’m kind of with Cathy’s mom on this one. Times change, but still.

    Happy Sunday, all.

    My mom still has (and uses!) an aluminum roaster pan that was a wedding gift — 64 years ago. She says “We bathed you kids in it, cooked in it, and it’s been in heavy rotation for all these years. And it probably cost a dollar, new.”

    I agree with rgcviper. It is pretty sad when the married couple only wants cash or something else impersonal. I usually ignore that and give them something that they might treasure years from now when the bills are paid and they want to remember the “old days”.

    Hello Aaron! You were mighty chatty earlier… LOL!! Very cute! :-) I need to go back and read yesterday’s comments, but I hope you got through your leg cramps and are doing better.

    It’s a good thing they didn’t have a guy like our president asking for wedding guests to send him a donation instead of buying the couple a gift or give them money for whatever. I have seen and heard of some tacky wedding ideas in my time, but that one beats all. How desperate can one get? Sorry about the political angle here, but this idea really stinks.

    Quite similar to the last few weddings I have been invited to – they all asked for money. It is no fun to organize and pack these gifts, and I always feel uneasy giving them. In today´s strip there would be nothing to actually “hand over” to the newlywed couple. Sad…

    My OH’s granny kept a big box for each grandchild, full of sheets, blankets, bedspreads, towels – useful things for the new home. As each one married, he or she was presented with their box of delights. They weren’t all the most fashionable designs or colours, but they came in very handy, especially when the kids came along.

    We were the first pair to be married, so we got the first big box. Some of those things are still in our cupboards, waiting for the chance to be useful again. And our 44th anniversary is just around the corner!

    Hi Cathyites!! Is Dad on the same planet? I don’t mind giving money, but the asking for it specifically is tacky. Unfortunately “tacky” doesn’t even register anymore with anyone.

    @lindz.coop

    I think Dad came into the conversation too late to here why Ma was wailing. Since he’s got a cup in his hand, I’d imagine he was just walking in from the kitchen. Also, being ‘clueless’ keeps Dad safe. He’s never exhibited ‘nutjob tendencies’.

    Restless restless and more restless. I was reading a new Vince Flynn novel and feeling sleepy. Usually when I’m that sleepy I turn off the light and fall asleep soon. But stray thoughts have kicked in and then the mind just starts running. Oy.

    A fellow Cathyite, last night, asked a legitimate question and then deleted it (maybe thinking she upset me — which she didn’t). I’ve been asked the question a few times. How does someone with MD (or CMT for me) still get to be a fireman? Shorter answer than I gave last night; lots and lots of hard work and lots and lots of proving myself over and over, on every fire call and on every EMS run. I still have to because we all know neurological illnesses are progressive. It took a hit-and-run accident to finally put me out of commission for a while. But I’ll go back soon enough and I’ll keep on proving I’m a good man in a harder than hard job. Still not brave; just fiercely dedicated.

    Guess I’ll go back to Mitch Rapp, stuck in Paris.

    Hi Aaron — guess you’re right about Dad. I hope you get to keep on doing what you do for a long long time — but don’t get mangled up anymore (PLEASE!!!!!).
