Newlyweds Cathy and Irving navigate the treacherous waters of couple-hood. From pampered pets to prying parents, they’ve got a lot to learn! Wedding or not, it’s still all about Cathy - she personifies the young career woman and her typical daily obstacles. Ice cream, panic attacks, stress and love are all in a day’s work. We read, we identify, we laugh. Who could ask for more?
Cathy is the Everywoman. She deals with diets, self-esteem, in-laws, and letting her husband know that she is the boss. Everyone can identify with her shopping, bills, taxes, planning for the future and coping with her husband’s incessant computer golf games. Whether you are a newlywed, single, or have been married for decades, all will enjoy the daily predicaments of Cathy and Irving.

And to think she MARRIED that jerk!!!
Good morning, Aaron, Billy, Lightenup, gmartin, Willi Nilli, KFG, GsMon, and the rest of the “Cathy” nuts.
Since I’m the first to post today, you all must find today’s strip pretty lame.

Irving just says aloud all the things Cathy internally wrestles with. Susan they’re birds of a feather.
Susan you’re before us because a few of us are on vacation. Billy and I have come home to our folks in NH. lightenup is on her way to Maine for a week.
hi mom!
It’s easy to assume we’re seaside bound since that’s where we go on vacations, from Maine to the Carolina’s. Billy and I are both huge lighthouse lovers and explorers. Mostly we go off-season so LMB can run the beaches with us. Yeah, plenty of apple picking while we’re at our folks. I practically grew up here after losing my parents. LMB loves to run the orchards and hide. So funny how the little guy’s brain works. Here’s a tip for the pie-lover in you: Marie Collender’s frozen pies. We like Razzleberry (blackberries, raspberries, and apples) the best. I’m more cook than baker, so an easy baking pie is nice. Mom will be making various fruit pies, cobblers, and turnovers while we’re here.

You know, life is complicated enough … and these two look for ways to make it even more complicated! @Aaron is right — they’re birds of a feather flocking together!
That's Dr. K.FG!! said, 11 months ago
@ Susan…..I didn’t post earlier bcuz I was out late last night and slept in this morning…..
LOL @ Irv…..that’s how I was when I used to have an insane work-out schedule…….too funny!
Hello to Aaron, Dr. Billy, Lightenup, Gretch’s ma, Viperdude, gmforde, Susan, lindzcoop, hendelca, soonergal and everyone else :) Happy Friday :)

I’m glad I’ve proven myself as a good guy to this group. Otherwise, Irving would continually make guys look like total losers. At my very worst I’m maybe 1% loser. Irving, however, is off the scale.
Hiya KFG I’m with you on sleeping in. Normally I’m up at 5:30 a.m. (give or take). 8:30 or 9:00 is so much better, especially when waking to bacon and/or coffee smells.
Hi fellow Cathyites.
Hi mom!
Check out Aaron’s pie recommendation yesterday.rgcviper said, 11 months ago
I’d like to point out that in today’s comic, Cathy is actually rolling HER eyes. Kind of a nice change from US rolling OUR eyes at HER, isn’t it?
Whoops … too late. :)
Happy Friday, all!

So don’t have grains for dinner, for heaven’s sake! Have a salad (or whatever) instead! Sheesh!!! Why is Irving making things so much harder than they have to be?!? If he’s interested, then he should say yes, he’ll have dinner with her. If he isn’t interested, then he should just say so and quit making all these stupid, lame-ass excuses, hoping she’ll get a clue! Meanwhile, it’s a pretty sad situation when Cathy, Queen of the Nut-Jobs, rolls her eyes at the weird behavior of someone else!
HI, AARON & DR. BILLY!
Hope you’re all having a great time in NH! We’ve currently got a few Sara Lee pies in our freezer right now (although no apple pie at the moment). I’ve had the Marie Callender Razzleberry pie before (which I thought was pretty good) but I absolutely love the Sara Lee Blueberry pies the best! Aaron, I’m the exact opposite of you: I don’t enjoy cooking (although obviously I have do it so that we don’t starve to death!) . . . but I just love to bake anything sweet like cakes, pies, cookies, etc.! I wish I had the opportunity to make those kinds of things more often but unless we’re going to a big family function, I don’t do it because it’s very bad for our waistlines — not to mention our health! Diabetes runs in the family so we have to be careful when it comes to eating too much of a good thing and becoming another (diabetic) “branch” in the old family tree!!!!!
lightenup & lightenupjr: Hope you and your family have a wonderful vacation in Maine! We’ll certainly miss you while you’re gone and if you aren’t able to check in while you’re away, we’ll just have to “see” you both when you get back! ;-)
Good evening, Hobbes (if you should happen to drop by), Susan, lindz.coop, rgcviper, gmforde, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, hendelca, Gator007, legaleagle48, Willi Nilli, mollie05, Lewreader, soonergal, O-Kay and all the REST of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here tonight. Great to “see” you all! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

@Billy Eye-gor
You’ve got that right about Irving — but thank God, Irving is not a very good representative of “guys.” We all know that neither you nor Aaron is anything like Irving.

Hi rest of the Cathyites! I too noticed that Cathy did the eyeroll for us today. How could she help it?!?

Leaving the beach in the morning…just in time it looks like a week of rain coming in so that was good timing for a beach vacation. Everyone else enjoy your get-aways . Love Cathy"s eye roll at Irving

Although Irving is a comic exaggeration, I have met people (both male and female) who were very much like him. Funny thing, although I was heavier then they were, in the long run I was healthier – even with all their ‘health worries’.
Big weekend at home here! First, it is the Canada Day long weekend; second, it is Summerfest Weekend for the downtown merchants (sidewalk sales and street entertainment), thirdly (and biggest), it is the Bikers Reunion Weekend. Already a couple of thousand bikes in town. Should be over 6,000 by tomorrow night. Just like a fair, lots to see and do and tons of free entertainment all weekend. Looking forward to the fireworks tomorrow night!
I hope all you other Cathyites have a good weekend wherever you are (New Hampshire, Maine, etc.!)
