Newlyweds Cathy and Irving navigate the treacherous waters of couple-hood. From pampered pets to prying parents, they’ve got a lot to learn! Wedding or not, it’s still all about Cathy - she personifies the young career woman and her typical daily obstacles. Ice cream, panic attacks, stress and love are all in a day’s work. We read, we identify, we laugh. Who could ask for more?
Cathy is the Everywoman. She deals with diets, self-esteem, in-laws, and letting her husband know that she is the boss. Everyone can identify with her shopping, bills, taxes, planning for the future and coping with her husband’s incessant computer golf games. Whether you are a newlywed, single, or have been married for decades, all will enjoy the daily predicaments of Cathy and Irving.

That IS NOT a female fantasy - a female fantasy is coming home to a husband who says “I got a sitter, how about we go get dinner and neck massages?”

That’s just the point, ejcapulet, which is why Cathy just smiled and dumped the martini on the salesclerk’s head. In other words, shut up, Ms. Salesclerk!

When I worked weekends my husband would greet me, then have me sit down & put my feet up (I worked mostly on my feet) and then he would massage my feet. Talk about a fantasy come true! Definitely a “keeper”!!

While I love the gorgeous wardrobes and dignity of the past, I don’t think I could summon up the energy to look as good as they did.

Personally, I think the female fantasy is coming home to find hubby’s cleaned house, has a candelight dinner ready, soft music playing and the promise of “extra curriculars” afterwards.
Or is that more of a pipe dream?
Knowing how self-conscious Cathy is about her hips, I’m surprised she’d even try on that dress.

It might work IF the woman didn’t have a job outside the home and IF she didn’t have a lot of kids to deal with. But if she also works let him pamper her sometimes. It’s give and take ya know?

those 2 sales clerks look like 2 old maids that make up
their own fantasies. They are trying to relive there youth. Thats when that style was in.

I would not like that look. And with today’s lack of job market there are more people looking for work and that type of fantasy is just that. I’m glad Cathy dumped that glass of water on her head.

Gee, I thought this stale story line finally ended yesterday.
And as for those salesclerks, wake up! This is the 21st century, not I LOVE LUCY!
BTW, that ugly dress makes Cathy look like a fat sow.

She looks like Mamie Eisenhower – I wore those dresses as a kid, and they sucked.
