Newlyweds Cathy and Irving navigate the treacherous waters of couple-hood. From pampered pets to prying parents, they’ve got a lot to learn! Wedding or not, it’s still all about Cathy - she personifies the young career woman and her typical daily obstacles. Ice cream, panic attacks, stress and love are all in a day’s work. We read, we identify, we laugh. Who could ask for more?
Cathy is the Everywoman. She deals with diets, self-esteem, in-laws, and letting her husband know that she is the boss. Everyone can identify with her shopping, bills, taxes, planning for the future and coping with her husband’s incessant computer golf games. Whether you are a newlywed, single, or have been married for decades, all will enjoy the daily predicaments of Cathy and Irving.

This sounds so familiar. I’ll at least go along with the idea of setting up a notebook of all the things you ought to do. Then maybe tackle one of them.

At the risk of running afoul of the Cathy-is-stupid contingent, that does happen to me. I start thinking of a couple things, then my list gets ahead of me (see panel 2) and I get totally overwhelmed and get little, if anything, done. Then the baby eats the list, and we start over again.

Me too. I need to do almost everything they’ve named. And my house looks almost as bad as my mother’s. Groan… My only hope is that I am working on moving the papers to electronic, and she refuses.

This looks too familiar, my 3rd wife was a clutterbug.
I would go through everything for her and put what I didn’t know what to do with in boxes.
She would dig through the boxes for stuff she needed and scatter it around again.
I don’t miss playing that game.

I’ve said it before..I wish C. Guisewite would use real backgrounds(like she used to)..the stylized decorative lines don’t really work well.

I ought to quit this comic–but I can’t; I like it too much!
