Newlyweds Cathy and Irving navigate the treacherous waters of couple-hood. From pampered pets to prying parents, they’ve got a lot to learn! Wedding or not, it’s still all about Cathy - she personifies the young career woman and her typical daily obstacles. Ice cream, panic attacks, stress and love are all in a day’s work. We read, we identify, we laugh. Who could ask for more?
Cathy is the Everywoman. She deals with diets, self-esteem, in-laws, and letting her husband know that she is the boss. Everyone can identify with her shopping, bills, taxes, planning for the future and coping with her husband’s incessant computer golf games. Whether you are a newlywed, single, or have been married for decades, all will enjoy the daily predicaments of Cathy and Irving.

Huh. So if no one’s speaking to him, how come he needs communication devices?

@JTRaine:
“oi that’s Sexist! I am a thousand times worse for owning and obsessing about gadgets then my hubby is!!”
My comment was sexist?! I’m sure you meant that in jest.
It was a fairly innocent observation that many women have expressed to me.
(Are these women then sexist, too? Hmm, sexism towards one’s own gender. Something to ponder.)
I think that was the point of the strip as shown by Cathy’s look of incredulity.

He has the right idea. Why do men think women don’t like gadgets? I live like that all the time. I’d rather get gifts of gadgets and electronics than useless (diamond) jewelry.
Cathy seems to be ruled by gadgets of every sort as well, in every other strip.
Hey, if you get any useless (diamond) jewelry, I’ll trade you for gadgets!!! ;oD

One thing I have learned: jewelry appreciates in value, gadgets become obsolete. So give me a diamond rather than a blackberry (besides, I’m a certified computer tech and I’d rather choose my own computer stuff).

I’m all about the gadgets. They make DH run the other way, lol!
