For every valid point of bombing Syria:

Not doing it will make others think they can get away with it…

We said we would, so have to go through with it…

Assad will do it again, or worse…

There are points to not do it:

    Syria didn’t attack us…

Assad is evil, but some of the ones fighting him are worse…

Why does it always have to be us to do it…

And so on, whatever we do, it will not end well. Or not do.

It wasn’t going to end well no matter what. The only valid question for us is, “What action – or inaction – on our part will be of most help to most people? Or conversely, what will be of the least harm?” Personally, I seriously doubt missile strikes will act as a deterrent and suspect they’ll only bolster the regime. If I had a choice, I’d provide humanitarian aid, give refugees a place in our country, and engage Russia and Iran in covert diplomacy since they’re the only one Assad seems to listen to. And with the new Iranian president being so surprisingly moderate, this is the time to reach out.

You can’t justify your own behavior by pointing to the behavior of others.

We have reached a tipping point when we rate an office holder: “Well, he’s bad, but he isn’t as bad as the last one”

You’ve got it backwards — it’s that you can’t criticize Obama for doing things that you completely supported when done by Bush without being a complete hypocrite.

That’s not the point. It’s that if you had no complaints when your guy did it, you have no legitimacy in complaining because the guy you don’t like is doing it less.
It’s NOT justifying Obama doing it, it’s pointing out the hypocrisy of calling out Obama’s actions when you had no problem with Bush doing it.

Good strip if you like half truths. For the record bush did take more vacations than obama. What he didn’t say, is that they were mostly to his ranch or camp david. therefore, they did not cost us thousands of dollars.

Which do you prefer to pay for??

Don’t forget Reagan’s. But not much you can do when 40% of folks supposedly think Obam-ney Care has “Death Panels”! Bad enough to be stupid, then you pile on rednecks, and folks who think that God wrote the Bible in English, and Jesus spoke English. Likes of FOX haven’t been seen since the NAZI Ministry of Propaganda, people should do what Reagan said to do “…verify.”

Ah, the old “infinite images in parallel mirrors” trick. I’m getting ready to hate the haters of the haters.

@T Smith , conversely, you can’t remain silent or support the same actions when done by your politician. We have become a nation of finger pointers when dealing with any opposition rather than actually trying to reach some accord related to the actions of government. I feel like I am listening to children bicker over who did what. Past is past, learn from it or repeat it, your choice

Hypocrisy sits easy in the right wing’s heart (I’m not going to call them Republicans). In fact, it seems to be encouraged.
