I hope not, thats just nit-picking. The point is Comcast, er, I mean cable companies, screw their customers and need to be regulated if they are aleways buying up or eliminating their competitors. And dish companies dont count.

Couldn’t resist TJ. 10% down and then 10 % up would be 99% of the original value.

More regulation is not the answer. Go to another option.

    Sporty- Great observation! If it’s $40/month, a 10% cut would be a charge of $36/month. A 10% increase of that would be $36 + $3.60 = $39.60 a month. $.40 is not much, but you’re a genius for finding it!

I, for one, hope that TWC wins this fight. Hold the line on expenses. My cable bill is already way too high. During the summer rerun season I am watching only one show, The Dome. Easy enuf to switch to the antenna once a week. Just press a couple of buttons on my remote.

Bright House has CBS but not some of the related channels.

What would YOU have ‘captive’ customers rely on…the honesty, equanimity and ethics of the self-interested holder of a government (taxpayer) sanctioned and supported monopoly? Your naïveté (or TEA-Party-Libertarian bias) is showing.

Personally I don’t see why cable companies have to pay (and there by the consumer) for rebroadcasting free publicly available content. I believe it should be the other way around (network TV pay to cable companies to rebroadcast their signal) and the cable companies required to give the consumer a discount.

Or you could go the other way:
it was $40, we were about to raise it to $44, ten percent of that is $44- $4.40 – $39.60
    -
    Same end point, different path.
    -
Truth of the matter is, if you don’t think cable is worth what they want for providing it, just do without. Don’t demand they sell to you at the rate you want to pay because I want everything free and if I got what I demanded, they would soon go out of business and I still wouldn’t have cable.
    -
Not that I do have cable, even if satelite doesn’t count, that is what I do have, so far.
If I decide it isn’t worth it, I won’t have that either.
