Maybe she just doesn’t want to have children.

I’m sure thats been done before. Hmmm, I’ve been enjoying Candorville for a few years now, not sure I am aware, or remember the story of what happened with the mother of Lemont’s son.

She’s probably out there somewhere in the darkness, teeth sharpened and ready.

She was a soulless monster, completely without empathy, conscience or morality; always ready suck the life out of you and leave you a wrinkled, dessicated corpse.

    You know…
    A politician.

Apparently, the kid is the result of a one night stand. Lemont couldn’t stand the lady but continued to spend time with her for the sake of the kid. Finally, he got fed up with the mom and sued for custody. Lemont won full custody, though he was hoping for joint custody. The judge (the boy’s grandmother on the mother’s side) decided the mother was an unfit parent. There were a number of odd interludes where she is shown to be a vampire. We are never quite clear on whether that is literal fact or whether Lemont suffers from psychosis.

TV Tropes pointed out that Lemont is the only character in Candorville who sees any of the supernatural parts, so my money’s on psychosis.
