See! See! LEMONT knows it’s not Jedi who do mind melds!

I will use my Super Powers to fight crime, but I draw the line at wearing tights
I’m in pretty darn good shape for 50, but this is NOT a tights body

@Doctor Toon
I’m with you. Athletic cut tights just don’t look right on a relaxed fit body.

actually, vulcans really don’t like to mind meld. they’re reluctant to doing it since it invades an individual’s privacy. geek lesson #136 for today.

So, considering Lemont’s family situation and Susan’s newly revealed attitude about family …. I guess she isn’t the girl for him afterall.

Vulcan just don’t like to do mind melds with aliens (non-Vulcans).

Or like someone who’s born human, but fights the urge to kill. Oh, that’s counter to what Lemonts’ saying.
“Killing is instinctive. But the instinct can be fought. We’re human beings with the blood of a million savage years on our hands! But we can stop it. We can admit that we’re killers…but we’re not going to kill…today. That’s all it takes! Knowing that we’re not going to kill…today! " – Capt. James T. KirkBreeding is instinctive, but the instinct can be fought.

Or a guy born with nipples who doesn’t want to nurse an infant! Or a human being born with a tailbone who doesn’t want to evolve his own tail! (Wait…huh?)

I don’t recall if Susan has ever met Lemont’s son, which might or might not change her attitude about that relationship. I can see her not stating that she means she doesn’t want to bear children, when that’s her objection….but who knows………maybe she really doesn’t want anything to do with them.

Well, yours truly, when he was in his mid-20’s, wouldn’t consider a serious relationship with a woman who didn’t want kids. Before I reached 30, I came to realize that I did not have any patience with kids, and it dawned on me that I would make a terrible and most likely abusive father. So, no kids. Along the way, I was a favorite “adopted” uncle with my friends’ kids, and everyone asked why I never became a father (I did marry someone who had 2 grown, adult kids). I told them honestly “Because they don’t go home with me, and I can leave when I want.” No pressure, no problem. So I can relate to Susan, for sure.

Not to mention the fact that there are a large number of species where only some adults breed, even though all of them have reproductive organs. Amongst social creatures with a strong social structure, for example — like wolves and meerkats — it’s often the case that only 20% of adults even have offspring!
Just because you’ve got gonads, really doesn’t mean you’ve got to use them, any more than the fact that we have the ability to spit or to pick things up with our toes if we feel like it, means that we have to. Only moreso, because children are a bit more of a serious commitment.

Spade Jr. has the courage to say no to all the pressure. I found out through baby-sitting that I would not be a good mom. So I’m not, but also love my nieces and nephews.
