Blood-spurting time is not the proper occasion for philosophical reflections.

Him standing in its way in the middle of the road? Or even sidewalk…

When you want to know what went wrong, don’t ask the bus, ask the driver. Don’t ask the food, ask the eater. Don’t ask the money, ask the shopper. Don’t ask the hammer, ask the carpenter. Don’t ask the wires, ask the electrician. Don’t ask the musical instrument, ask the musician. Don’t ask the wedding rings, ask the husband and wife. Don’t ask the gun, ask the shooter. And so forth.

I want to know who will determine who is mentally ill, and who is not.
The Shrinks? Collectively, they are more neurotic than almost anyone else. It’s why they became shrinks to begin with.

And yet everyone always points out how people like Adam Lanza and Jared Loughner were disturbed and “this” doesn’t surprise them at all.

Don’t ask the 787, ask Boeing. But wait! They grounded the 787 while asking Boeing because the plane itself was dangerous.

In truth, there must be a multi-pronged approach. Looking at countries that don’t “enjoy” our gun toll, we note that they ALL have rigid gun regulations (yes, even Switzerland), they ALL have excellent public education. They ALL have great public mental health services. And they ALL have far better public health care than here. If we implemented all of those, I guarantee there would be a reduction in gun violence.

bad analogy. the planes arent dangerous, they are defective. guns arent dangerous until their owners are defective.

I think the point is, none of that “asking” is the first thing you do. The first thing you do is put on a band-aid to stop the bleeding.

Question 1 in the psych eval section of the new Gun Owner application. “In 50 words or less, what is your opinion of the Newtown conspiracy?” Easy assessment, I’d say.

He dose have a point that we do need to address this “Mental Illness” and “Declining Morality” thing. Only someone who is mentally ill or has bad morals would leave someone after hitting them with a bus. let alone sit there and read a newspaper while the person next to you has a injury like his.
