Oh hey… Do you know what the President costs us?

    $484 MILLION a year.

    $59M for the White House

$93M for the OMB (Can we get them a copy of Excel? Quickbooks maybe?)

    $94 MILLION for “Unanticipated Needs”

And this is the best part… $239 MILLION for… are you ready for this…?

There’s a line of Kipling’s about “robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul”. Under our system, it’s collective Peter who gets robbed and the only difference between the two parties is who the selected Paul is.

Domestic surveillance is now big business, with or without government subsidy, and people will pay a good deal of money to pry into your personal affairs, with or without your knowledge or consent. That much is certain. What we don’t know is to what degree we will be punished for what we thought was out of the public’s view or reach. Dirty underwear, 1-900 numbers, downloads of unsanctioned materials, insufficient number of Bibles or TVs in the home, whatever.
    .
The crime is not as important as how much somebody can make from your prosecution and, uh, ‘salvage.’ You got a lot of stuff you won’t need in prison, or after, if there ever is an after. Better watch out. The pirates have you in sight.

Funny how many people are focusing on issues that have nothing to do with this strip. The definition of blinders. On both sides.

    Excellent strip.
