Why should it be a surprise to anyone that there are blacks who advocate individual rights, oppose oppressive taxation, defend limited government, or reject socialized medicine?

I’m still gloating over how the anti-health-care nut suddenly found his health in serious need of care. If nothing else, these guys are a great source of entertainment.

Nice Straw-Man SmuckLock.
It’s not Health CARE that’s the issue, it’s Health INSURANCE.
And if you think that the Government is the right agent to fix any problems there, you’re a bigger idiot than Obama.

Disagree with policy all you want… but if you actually literally believe that our President is of low intelligence then you are profoundly disconnected from reality.

Remember Woodward & Bernstein’s advice from Watergate, which applies to any issue involving government, especially (but not limited to) Federal:
Follow the Money.
There is SO much money at stake, the beneficiaries of the current setup (in any of several issues) are going to do anything to preserve it.
Sunshine is still the best disinfectant. Watch for whistleblower protections, they may save our bacon.

You can call it socialism, communism, fascism, liberalism or any other thing you want. I am sick of being screwed by insurance companies and the real “Death Panels” run by them. I want a Public Option now. Just allow me to sign up for the same insurance Sen. Boenher and the rest of the government workers have. I am willing to pay for it.

Well Pschearer a Black right winger is as rare as a good movie on Lifetime. Most of us remember that it took federal laws for us to enjoy the same rights that everyone else was promised in the constitution. Also most of us understand what the term “states rights” rally means. We also know what happened when states suceeded from the Union so when one of us falls for the code words that worked against us it is surprising. Maybe the 90% approval rating for Obama in our community is a clue.

There’s one reason blacks have voted 90% for Democrats and more than that for Obama: Ever since the Voting Rights Act of 1964, the racists in the country have seen the Republican Party as their refuge. It makes perfect sense: They see racist Southerners voting as a bloc for the Republicans, they’ll know that’s because the Republican Party, for whatever reason, feels like HOME to the racists, so they’ll vote as a bloc for whoever opposes the Republicans.
If you want to get black people to vote Republican, don’t just get your politicians to stop catering to the racists in your party (something they still haven’t done), get them to forcefully REJECT the racists in your party.
Too bad there aren’t many moderates left in the Republican Party to make that happen.

The lack of diversity in the GOP is astounding. Just watching the difference between the two conventions last year was amazing. The long term outlook for the GOP isn’t good until they really make attempts at diversity religious, racial and philosophical. Like rvernon says I won’t feel comfortable with the GOP unless the acknowledge the racism in their party instead of ignoring them and labeling those who oppose bigotry the racists. I think it will happen or they will go the way of the Whigs.
