Wow, I bet Himmler and Goering wished they had waited, not to mention Tojo.

What the CIA did may have been the beginning of a slippery slope, but the comparisons with WWII are simply not fair. Unlike the Japanese death marches and the Nazi gas chambers, Americans didn’t kill any prisoners. And waterboarding was reserved for a select few, not the majority.

Not true, we killed prisoners at Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib, at least. Sorry, they “died” after being tortured and at least one died after being left in a “stress position” too long. In Abu Ghraib, we even tortured kids, or has everyone forgotten already?

And because of World War 2 we set up a whole system of laws to prevent a slippery slope from starting, so it’s fair to say we all went and forgot the lessons of WW2.

” An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind”( I believe that was either by Mohandas Gandhi or MLK).

I’m guessing Shabash hasn’t seen /Taxi to the Dark Side/ yet. Detainees murdered (or pick a euphemism) at Bagram air base’s prison (that’s in Afghanistan). And it’s being expanded in the current ‘surge’.

    Darrin, go go go go!
I think that one of the most hideous things about the American educational system is that students leave school not realizing that a Democracy REQUIRES an informed, involved citizenry. These comparisons are a great wake up call to a nation that has had to live in denial for the last 8 yrs.

But it is not torture to suck out the brains of a partially born baby?
