    Dad has only himself to blame.

    My thought eggzacktically!

    Hope they have homeowners insurance, but probably not, the premium to cover a house
    with Calvin in it would be super-astronomical.

    @watmiwori

    That would be due to “The Calvin Clause” (not to be confused with Hobbes’ claws).

    Has anyone compiled how much (appox.) that Calvin has cost in home repair?

    Only a fraction of that caused by Macaulay Culkin.

    Dad has become accustomed to dealing with Calvin’s flood of complaints.

    In the past, Calvin has caused problems that involved everything but the kitchen sink.

    Here are two strips from the second month of Calvin and Hobbes:

    This was also a recurring theme for Ziggy. Here’s one from 14 years before Calvin and Hobbes began:

    Dear Hobbes, (the commenter)
    I want to thank you for your contribution to this space, giving us a topical documentary on a daily basis. All from what seems to be an archive going back decades, very nicely tying into the theme of the day, You mix in equal parts of humor, philosophy, and corny puns, and give us a new appreciation for this art form. And I will never stop believing that you are of a higher calling.
    You are the Ken Burns of comic strips.

    Thanks, Thirdguy. In China, I’m what they would call a “Tiger Dad.”
