Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Where is work for such little boys?
legaleagle48 said, 9 months ago
There are simple chores that a boy Calvin’s age can do to earn money, LX013. He could weed the flower bed or water the lawn, for example.

To be pedantic this strip should read 1 of two ways:
.
1) The awkward way:
.
Calvin: “Am I able to have five dollars?”
Mom: Yes, if you earn it. (or something similar)
.
2) Far closer to grammatically correct:
.
Calvin: “ May I have five dollars?” (italics mine for emphasis on the proper word)
Mom: (replies as per the strip)
.
Grammer counts even if Gramper don’t think so.
.
(It’s a bad play on words, folks)

Even given that this strip is 25 years (or so) old, the consideration that Mum does not work because she stays at home is so anti-feminist that it makes even me shiver.

I guess soliciting or begging is work.

Not strange when you consider in those days the parents looked after the kids not the govt.

@LX013
Make your own bed
Tidy your room
Help set the table (napkins, silverware etc)
Empty wastepaper baskets
Feed and exercise your pet
Dust livingroom furniture as high as you can reach
Bring in mail and newspaper from the outside mailbox
Fold clean clothes in laundry basket
And there’s more.
