The nitrates should help them grow…

It didn’t seem to harm my best friend’s oleander plants. His dog watered them daily. But that’s anecdotal evidence.

It takes over a year for the grass to grow back where a dog “marked territory”.

This is incorrect information. Urine contains urea, which is a fertiliser, but urine has not been shown to be good for plants. It is, however, certain that it does not harm them.

This presupposes that the urine is
    1. deposited exactly around the plant roots and
    2. does not drain or diffuse away.
Since neither of these things happen, your statement is ipso facto fallacious.

A random dose of urine is good for plants. Sustained long term exposure is bad, just like over fertilizing.
