If one uses a time machine to go WAY back into the past and kills some one who may have been his ancestor, then he will cease to exist, which means he would not exist to go back into the past to kill that distant ancestor, which means he will exist, which means…oh fuggetaboutut.

Calvin COULD go to the year 2099, write the paper there, and travel back in time. I guess.

Sherlock Holmes here….just came through the time mists along the Thames river….ah, I see even your children use time travel in the future, elementary of course. But…how DO your little imps get those cardboard boxes to fly???

I’d have to disagree with Hobbes #2 (“All this modern technology just makes people try to do everything at once.”) On the contrary, Calvin’s using his technology to avoid doing work.

Where are mum and dad while all this commotion is going on? I’m sure it can’t be quiet, and if it is quiet that’s even a better reason to go and see what’s going on.

Dr Nichols first name is Walter, if you are willing to accept that fact from the Eugenics Wars novels, where the character is featured as an research scientist for Area 51 in later years of his life.

…and…I might know a little about time travel myself……

I wouldn’t do that, Susan. As bad as Hitler was, his actions were a key influence on history and the development of your civilization. You humans, evolving during a crisis. Amazing!

The idea of infinite quantum universes is a question for theologists, not scientists. Having a universe created for each and every possible outcome of each and every decision that gets made in a days time would result in billions upon billions of new quantum realities created every nanosecond.

There would be a universe for each and every pair of socks you considered wearing today, and then one for each of your pants, one for each of your shirts, etc… for every decision making being on the planet.

“Science” and the “Natural World” do not monitor the decision making process of a sentient mind. If you believe in a god or gods, that entity may take an interest in your socks and would like to have two of you wearing both pairs, but that’s probably not likely.

Sounds silly when you think about socks. Now scarves……
