Like yesterday, Calvin finds some of his Mom’s rules hard to swallow.

Before he finishes his milk, I hope he doesn’t spot a fly in Mom’s general direction.

Morning Marg. Your new avatar is a real turkey. (And a nice-looking one, at that.)

In the next panel, Calvin does a spit take all over Mom.

He might spit it back into the glass and sip it afterwards just to show his mom what a good boy he is.

Oh boy! Does THIS bring back memories!
One of the things that makes C&H such a delight is that Bill Watterson nailed the characteristics of most 6 year-old boys dead on target — and then pushed it a bit beyond.

I’ve been reading this strip for a while and now I finally have to ask:
How do Hobbes, Marg and others know each other??

Marg, love it when you talk all kinky like that! :-)

Yesterday’s comments about childhood memories got me thinking (rare, but it happens!)… the reading material that really takes me back is the “William” books by Richmal Crompton – she understood the thought process of 11-year-old boys perfectly. I started reading them when I was 11 myself and don’t pass up a chance to indulge even now, if I have the time and the opportunity.

    Hi tanya96

I’ve never met anyone here in person, and I’ve only been on this site for one year (exactly one year today), but I feel like I know quite a few of the posters pretty well. Over time, everyone’s personality becomes more transparent, and some of us become friends of sorts, or at least cyberfriends.

For a long time, Marg was the first poster on this site every morning, and others of us would sometimes come on right after her and greet her. That’s why I still say “Hi” to her on rare occasions when I’m awake at a ridiculous hour. Not only that, but Marg is a really nice, thoughtful person.

Calvin and Hobbes is the only strip where I post, so I’m not the expert on this, and others can give you better answers to your question. I think some of the others have gotten to know each other well because of posting on other strips where there are fewer posters, sometimes by posting for several years, and sometimes by communicating outside of this forum. And, there are some posters who do know other posters in person.

There is one poster who thinks I know Bill Watterson in person, in spite of my repeated denials, but that’s a very long story…… She is also a very nice person. (Hi, Mythreesons!)
