That you were!
You don’t have a say in this, Calvin.
Good morning, Marg, Mike & ♠Lonewolf♠!
When I was a kid my Dad decided one morning that he wanted a family fun day, so he and Mom called into work and they called me in sick from school! We went out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and in between we went shopping, the movies, and generally breezed the day away! It was a secret day too so we felt devilish!
If Mom can get Calvin out of the house long-term, she’d do it in a millisecond.
Poor Calvin, I still-get out voted on the days activity.
Not by Mom, but still by an authoritative figure that has the last say.
When Calvin and Suzie get married Calvin will not be so shocked when this happens.
Happy ST Paddy’s
well…if only everyone in the world could say and do what they feel like doing! I would have taken leave from office every other day…aaah…..life is cruel…
TV? School? Which will rot your mind fastest?
Calvin your just too funny…lucky for you mom has a sense of humor today.
I’m thinking so too.
Happy St. Patrick’s day Marg, Yukoner, and Grog
**Good morning Marg!
Good morning Fran!
Good Morning L’Wolf!
Good Morning Grog!**
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
I hate when that happens.
haha i not going to wear green i wearing black
Oh, oh another one of them dang black Irish!
This one (and some of the comments) reminded me of an old Saturday Night Live sketch. John Belushi played the kid who didn’t feel like going to school; his dad (Bill Murray?) takes the ‘what if everyone didn’t go to school or work’ cliche one step further by calling out of work. It escalates to where the President of the US calls out, and the next thing you know we’re conquered by the Russians - all because Johnny wouldn’t go to school!
Whoever informed you didn’t do it right this time, Calvin.
Indeed you were.
I know, Calvin. That happens to me everyday.
Calvin even adults can’t do that. Unless they have sick time or vacation time to use up.
Top of othe morning to you on St. Patty’s day. Will be a warm day here. 61° high 83° and brezzy.
what a beautiful GREEN day!!! :) I could pretty much call out when I want, but I don’t because I need money!!! Ahh oh well!!
Calvin has mom and I have the Little General, or as she is affectionately known, LilG!
Yeah Calvin, life sucks! LOL!
I thimk that Mom’s the one who wasn’t informed before…
I miss not having sick/vacation time. Being self-employed has it down side.
Like there’s anything on TV worth watching…
I wanted to stay home from work today and finish my book. I didn’t get my way either, Calvin.
Seems Calvin’s education isn’t restricted to school.
I have often speculated on why you don’t return to America. Did you abscond with the church funds? Did you run off with a senator’s wife? I like to think you killed a man. It’s the romantic in me.
It was a combination of all three.
And what in heaven’s name brought you to Casablanca?
My health. I came to Casablanca for the waters.
Waters? What waters? We’re in the desert.
I was MISINFORMED.
Calvin is a great learner and his Hobbes is a thinking CAT.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Everybody!
Calvin’s school time is Mom’s “me” time. :-D
Hate when that happens, Calvin. Next time, tune into WMOM.
Dino-1, not a good life lesson in my opinion.
Calvin - blame it on poor information from your lawyer, Hobbes. Your mother was neither misinformed or misguided with respect to you, however….
Alas, staying home and watching TV all day is too hard for little boys like Calvin.
It’s only Tigers like Hobbes who can stand up to the pressure of TV and Comic books all day.
Calvin, apparently you were.
You’re taking it rather well, Calvin.
This looks like a variation of “The devil made me do it.”
If I were you, I’d FIRE your source.
I think school would rot your mind faster. I used to spend school days looking out the window, thinking one thing: if I’m gonna die, it’s because my teacher bored me to death. At least with tv, you’re actually interested unless there’s nothing good on. ( And I doubt anyone with 2000 channels ever knows what that’s like. ) If there’s nothing on, it kills you 3 times slower than school does, so kids( probably like Calvin) who drop out of high school probably did it to avoid dying. :)
Dino-1, what a fun memory for you. I’m sure that while you “played hooky” that day, your parents instilled responsibility as well. :D
After corned beef, taters and carrots, and a Guinness, it’s time to wish Calvin a Happy St Paddy’s Day and a great Friday at school tomorrow!
‘Tis a fine day for an Irishman. I raise me pint to all me friends on this site.
And by the way Calvin, I have many such days.
I think you lost, Calvin!
Calvin lost this battle, but there is still the war ahead.
Never give up, Calvin!
