I guessed if it rained for five days in a row, Calvins’ idea would be a god send……….

Mom is agreeing with Calvin! Now, I’ve seen everything!

    Dad’s sadism continues.

Maybe mom made a pact with Calvin to prevent ending up in a tent…

Seems weird that Calvin’s dad only thinks of camping when vacation comes up. Why can’t they just vacation in another city?

I’m with Calvin and mom all the way! Ugh, cold ground, wet tent, mosquitoes…

Chime, when this comic was being written there weren’t even any seat belts in the back seats except in Volvo.

It’s no fun loving camping but being in a family that hates it. I know, so I feel great sympathy for Dad. Having said that, he’s fighting a losing battle.

    btmosely, thanks!

hildigunnur, they absolutely did have backseat seat belts at the time this was written. It began in 1985, and I had children by then - they were buckled up in the backseat - not a Volvo. Heck, when I was a kid in the late 60s, we rode around in a VW van, and we had seat belts.
