Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Every team could use Hobbes.

Quarterback sack! So what’s the score?
Nivellios said, 2 months ago
Yeah, but the thing is when Calvin and Hobbes once played football Calvin could not even reach the ball, even if he climbed Hobbes’ body, nevertheless tackle him. So heck, ANY football team could use Hobbes as a player!
Yukoner said, 2 months ago
Calvin needs to stand back as if he were the kicker.

Calvin needs to stand back like the kicker.

Like I said once before. Hobbes is a Bengal.
Grog

Maybe, but the Bengals don’t need him like the Lions do.

The score is one to a gazillion.

I dont understand this game to this day in spite of my efforts!!! Calvin’s far superior to me at his age if understanding of rugby is the only criterion!! :)

Calvinball (at this stage of Calvin’s life) has not yet been invented.
Don’t worry, he’ll invent it as soon as he figures out it’s the only game he has a comet’s chance in a supernova of winning. :))

u gotta remember that clavin is only about 2 and a half or 3 feet tall

The Lions are simply in need of people who know how to play football. I mean there are probably kids playing sand lot football who can beat the Lions.

Maybe Hobbes will take up baseball and sign up with Detroit.
MisngNOLA said, 2 months ago
Praxsis, I know what you mean. We used to play a 3 second rule…hadda count 1Mississippi, 2 Mississippi 3 Mississippi before you could rush the QB, then it was full on blitz time.
Puddleglum2 said, 2 months ago
The Christians used to be thrown to the Lions in the Colosseum. They might survive being thrown to the Detroit Lions. :o) jk
Ray C said, 2 months ago
The Lions need a new owner.
Calvin needs to learn the shotgun formation.
M Smokey said, 2 months ago
I should try that with Mona.
Fer Lefer said, 2 months ago
I don’t think that’s a good idea, monsieur smokey… She´s taller and meaner than you!
Macushlalondra said, 2 months ago
All of the Detroit teams can use Hobbes. My husband says they’re losing a lot of good players. I told him now that we’re in Canada we should follow the Blue Jays but I think he’ll always be a Tiger fan.

I used to live in Canada and could never stoop to cheering for the Jays. I was an Expos fan before they moved to Washington. Now I’m a Red Sox fan.
LX013 said, 2 months ago
Great player!
GretchensMom said, 2 months ago
Ray C: You’re absolutely right! The shotgun formation would definitely be a lot safer for Calvin than behind this particular center!
jrbj said, 2 months ago
True, Calvin is destined to be smashed taking the ball directly from the center. However, I suspect that Hobbs can make a mighty leap, as only a tiger can, and smash Calvin in the shotgun too.

I feel really sorry for Calvin, he doesn’t have any friends.
A lot of that is probably his own fault but it is sad that nobody will even come play football with him and Hobbes.
Stede_Bonnet said, 2 months ago
It’s easy to forget that Hobbes is Calvin’s “imaginary” playmate so in truth, it is Calvin who is delivering these beatings upon himself.
Do you suppose that Calvin grows up to become the Ed Norton character in “Fight Club”?
;-)
Puddleglum2 said, 2 months ago
For self-preservation, Calvin might have to use the shotgun, literally. That’s a drastic, possibly tragic tactic,
but maybe it’s worth a shot. I know Calvin isn’t old enough to get a license for a weapon. I’m allowing him some sort of ‘poetic license’. Hey, it could be ‘verse’. (groan)
ratlum said, 2 months ago
Not many games that Calvin can play with Hobbes, that are physical
AJCA said, 2 months ago
JAJAJAJAJAJAJA, That’s a good one Beatles4.
Calvin should consider flag football. Hobbes is still going to defeat him, but at least he avoids the beating.
catalinafan said, 2 months ago
I never had an imaginary tiger - just an older brother who beat me up all the tme.
Ray C said, 2 months ago
Macushlalondra: I spent the first 21 years of my life in Detroit, and haven’t gotten over the addiction to Detroit’s teams. I hate to think, though, what superb college players like Calvin Johnson must feel when their excellence dooms them to play in Detroit, which gets the first or second round pick routinely.
The Pistons have been my only bright spot, until they dumped Billups.
notinksanymore said, 2 months ago
Poor Detroit fans! Even the Saints never went 0-16!
Saucy1121 said, 2 months ago
If Calvin takes the ball from the shotgun position, it will only make for a bigger loss. Hobbes is too fast.
pintcape said, 2 months ago
hobbes snaps the ball to calvin they should be on the same team, poor calvin gets sacked by his own player, rough game.
