Does the term “Digging your own grave” come to mind?
Gweedo Murray said, 3 months ago
Dad should wait for Cal to finish the dig before killing him.

He already is, Yukoner. He already is.
Of course if he digs far enough, he’ll actually be in deep water - say, in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Assuming he gets through the lava fields of Pellucidar, that is. ;)
ejcapulet said, 3 months ago
He doesn’t want to dig his way over here. Just trust me.

It’s possible to dig to China,
as long as you remember to make the left turn at Albuquerque.

dont u think it would be easier just 2 go jump on a plane?
calvin could do that, he can just steal his dads credit card again

Calvin’s right, Dad really is a grouch. If I weren’t so old and disabled I’d go get that other shovel and help Calvin. Or maybe I could just use the shovel on Dad’s noggin. Then we could bury Dad in the driveway and Calvin could stay home.

I’d like to see him dig directly into the earth’s core. That would be an even bigger adventure than the recent trip to Mars.

all the good lines are taken as usual.. the second panel is heart-breaker.

Time for a golf question -
Shouldn’t a fairway be called a driveway?
It’s just not fair to call a place that you park a ‘driveway’.

i think i have seen this strip around 6months or 1year before.

dd fence emet
shouldn’t a place you park be called a parkway and a place you tee-off a driveway and a place with a boulevard of trees and fountains a fair way?
And why do the ….. oops I seem to be diggin in the lane way.

I love “Calvin-Logic”…
DDFENCE EMET First said, 3 months ago
Maybe they don’t bother to call the fairway the driveway because odds are your drive won’t end up in it?
That’s the case for me, and now I just refuted my own point.
This is not going to be one of my better days.

The fact that Dad will get mad no matter where you dig, Calvin should tell you that you’re doing something wrong - no matter where you do it.

I do love the calvin-logic and the bold type “where”. i especially love how he matter of factly says “oh, well you know dad”. my kids, 8 and 6, talk like that sometimes. it always cracks me up to hear what comes out of kids mouths and how they say it.

calvin, if you are digging to china just to get some chinese food, come on over here, there is a really good take out place about a half mile from me.

“Pellucidar” is a fictional place at the core of the earth created by Edgar Rice Burroughs “Tanar of Pellucidar” etc. The series is a very good read! (Surprised y’all, didn’t I?)

Well he did actually make it to Mars (well sort of) so he just may make it to China.
Good to see you back redskins fan!

I have a few comments about this one…
-When I was a little kid, I used to think the “dig to china” idea was silly… not because all the superhot core material in the way mind you, but because once you got halfway, you’d have to start digging UP.
-Digging a hole in your dad’s driveway and setting sail for the new world are not so very different. Calvin’s willingness to blindy take the first step into adventure is a rare and precious thing that most people lose when they’re very young, if they even had it to begin with.
-It’s not so much that you should “think outside the box”, but more that you never should have built the stupid thing in the first place ;) (exceptions should be made for time machines and transmorgrifiers of course)

kab2rb: From yesterday - There are all sorts of anti-snore products that your husband can try, everything from Breathe Right strips to a sleep apnea mask. Snoring can be a sign of a serious medical problem, so he should consult his doctor. If nothing else works, you can always wear earplugs. I do, and it has made a wonderful difference in my ability to sleep.

There is a Road Runner cartoon (the last one Chuck Jones made) where Wile E. Coyote dug to China where he was greeted by a Chinese road runner dressed in a silk robe and coolie hat. When he tried to grab the bird, it fled.
The coyote then fell UP the hole and ended up back in the US. Once again, he couldn’t catch the American road runner, but its Chinese cousin peeped up through the hole, and said “Beep Beep”, which was referred to as an “ancient Chinese proverb”.
Sorry, but I can’t remember the name of that cartoon.

Somehow, I don’t think Hobbes will want to go when he discovers just which tiger bits are used in traditional Chinese medicine.
Sysiphus said, 3 months ago
I wonder if the Chinese will appreciate his predicament as much as we do.
Also, will he meet his counterparts, Chung Wan and Pei, midway through the dig?
medamo said, 3 months ago
Serves dad right for not locking the garage before sending Calvin outside. Boy, will he be in for a surprise when he finally tunes in to how quiet it is outside.
