Out of Tuna! This is greatest disaster of course!

In panels 2 and 3 Calvin sure gets it right. Sure wish I could convince my Canadian government to follow his advice

I bet NASA wishes space travel were so easy and so cheap….a couple of cans of tuna and they’re off!

Yeah, but it’s 250 billion for a wagon.

Better hurry, guys, I hear Earth’s running out of tuna too.
DreamScourge said, 4 months ago
I didn’t see any empty tuna cans being packed for the trip home…. Shame on you boys… Maybe that’s the solution turn Mars into the Earths rubish tip, eventually all the green house gasses will increase the atmospheric density and the added mas will increase the gravity lol
Somehow I think I missed a minus sign in my equations again ^_^

It’s all about tuna (food). Hobbes has it nailed….

I do remember living in Calvin’s world.

The first three panels have it down cold. Now if we could just convince the federal government and NASA not to go to Mars before we get our act together on Earth …….

We should dream big. That’s what humans do best.

The natives of Mars are happy to watch them leave.

Yeah, we’ve run out of cod and salmon. Tuna’s next.

Don’t worry, they haven’t rented out your room Calvin. When you get back you will only have been gone an hour and mom didn’t miss you. When you tell her about your great trip to Mars she’ll just roll her eyes and tell you to shut up. Mom’s no fun at all.

Man’s destiny is to bring tuna to other less advanced civilizations.

Wow…a wagon trip to Mars…and back home in time for dinner!
NASA could learn much from these two.
jrbj said, 4 months ago
BC13, I think you’re right. However, there is a strong probability that we’ll destroy ourselves first.

not to worry calvin, they didn’t rent out your room, dad converted it into a poker and sewing room so they have something to do now that they don’t have to worry about you since you left home.

Calvin and Hobbes realize more in a few hours than most adults realize in their lifetime. This cartoon really makes a statement about our previous generation.
Florchi said, 4 months ago
Panel 2 sounds a bit like Star Trek’s Prime Directive - at least the part about not messing around with other peoples’ planets. This might also make a good “prime directive” here on earth - fix the problems with your own country and don’t mess around in other peoples’ countries.

DreamScourge: They addressed the “policing” of their trash several days ago. Even though you didn’t see it today, they took the trash with them - Hobbes would have made sure of it.
ratlum said, 4 months ago
It would take longer than that to clean his room before they can rent it out

Point taken, however, I was hopeful that we would at least grow out of that desire to kill one another nonsense.

Wonder if the Martian hitched a ride :)

Macushlalandra is right. No one has missed them. But I think that’s a good thing. He’s expected to entertain himself, and without a lot of fancy toys or electronic games. I think children today are too supervised.
Boy, am I gonna catch it for that statement.

Why are they quitting so soon? Mars is a big planet, almost the size of earth. Maybe you can find another place more hospitible–say, a Martian Fiji!
BTW, MAc, you’re right about Calvin’s mom. His dad is just the same; he’s probably buried in his newspaper.

A wagon ride is better than just clicking your ruby red slipper heels together but it’s still true… there’s no place like home!

“When will they ever learn?”… that they will never learn.
There’s only one hope, in my opinion. Take it or leave it, but you face the consequences of your choice.

Wonder what Bill would have come up with if he saw the latest cover story on ‘Time’ - “Tuna face threat of Extinction due to indiscriminate, mechanized fishing practices”

Puddleglum2 said, 4 months ago
Quoting lyrics might well be in conjunction with original thought, but you wouldn’t know about that; you used Bob Dylan’s ‘original’ thought.

It wasn’t very often that Calvin would get philosophical. In this case though, he’s got it spot on.
