Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

They’ve been listening to your people’s broadcasts for decades, Calvin.

These strips are priceless. They should be in school textbooks of every kid. Thanks BW.

They must get Radio Free Mars up there!

Susan. They only get our broadcasts from 40 years ago, like I Love Lucy. Oh, I get your point.
We can thank our veterans for Calvin and Hobbs.
glslightning said, 10 days ago
Lewreader: Why only broadcasts from 40 years ago? They’re only on Mars, not another star, lightyears away from Earth. Radio signals should reach Mars from Earth in a relatively short period of time, (minutes or at most hours) not years.
unemandarine said, 10 days ago
So human reputation preceded C&H… That’s too bad, Calvin wanted to live in a better world.
Bdaysuit said, 10 days ago
Ok, Calvin, fire up the ol wagon, you got to go farther out into space to where they never heard of Earth. Good luck. lol
Thank you, Vets. We wouldn’t be doing this without you.
jrbj said, 10 days ago
There’s no way humans will ever live in a better world. Wherever they go they take themselves with them.

Do tigers count as earthlings?
tonytiger29 said, 10 days ago
Tigers may be earthlings but at least they’re not human.
grazer said, 10 days ago
Calvin and Hobbes aren’t “earthlings”…they’re earththings.
kittenpah said, 10 days ago
Mars is never more than about 15-20 light-minutes away from earth, so the only reason to be watching 40 year old tv shows would be Nickolodeon.

Can’t the ‘dog’ still be trained??!!!

“Where have all the young men gone?
Gone for soldiers everyone
When will they (we) ever learn?”
“Far called, our navies melt away;
On dune and headland sinks the fire:
Lo, all our pomp of yesterday
Is one with Nineveh and Tyre!
Judge of the Nations, spare us yet.
Lest we forget - lest we forget.”

I contend that humans who believe that they are somehow superior to the average dog are responsible for most of the World’s problems.
I, myself, make no such claim. “Woof.”

except we are supposed to know better, which makes it twice as worse as a misguided canine
Madruga said, 10 days ago
Jrbj is just right…humans will never learn..this is definitely one of the more philosophical comic strips..although it’s still quite funny.. =)

Stede_Bonnet: You sure are right there! Has anyone ever seen “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” or “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?”? How did some of those people pass a test to get on those shows anyway???!!! My dog is a WHOLE lot smarter than some of those people, that’s for sure!!!!! And if SHE were in charge of the world, then the world would be a whole lot better off … full of nothing but lots of love, licks and treats for EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!

this reminds me of george carlins ” america the beautiful” from the early 70s
O beautiful for smoggy skies
Insecticided grains
For strip-mined mountains, majesty
Above the asphalt plains.
America, America,
Man sheds his waste on thee
And hides the pines
With billboard signs
love this strip

To all Veteran’s you are honored on your day.
For some of those games shows there is a time limit and you have to be fast thinking and on your feet.
I wonder when Hobes will wake up and be home for school time.

The funny thing about Veteran’s Day is that was ONE holiday we never got off in the Army - it was just another normal day in the military (as far as any day in the military is ever normal). Only in civilian life was it noticed…
