Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

it all depends on one’s point of view…

Calvin you might want to think that through. To the alien you are the weirdo, and if I were you I’d get going before the alien parents come.

I just read yesterday’s cartoon. The martian looks like the ones on The Muppet Show and Sesame Street. They were checking out objects on earth and tried to figure out how to communicate. They had a book and usually thought everything was a chicken and they’d all agree and say, “Yup, Yup, Yup, Yup, Yup, Chicken.” They’d then make clucking sounds. I remember they got it right one time and were so pleased clucking back and forth with the chicken. It made me laugh everytime!

Calvin, you’re kind of a weirdo alien to your fellow Earthlings, let alone to anyone else.

You beat me to the comment! But it is true, it all depends on the point of view.

hey kiddie, they are just “marslings” and you are weirdos…so attack on them!!!

Calvin has condensed the reason for the entire human, race, religion, geographical, ethnic, language and culture derived strife and suffering in the last panel..
Even Aliens and Humans are united in their Fear of the Unknown..

In the end, Hobbs is honest and Calvin one who discriminates. In the end, Calvin grows up and discards Hobbs [honesty] and continues on discriminating his way though life. And so do we all, without exception. Oh c’mon now, be honest. You do too.

But some of us then turn around and start learning how not to discriminate. save between good and evil (which we have to do whether some of us like it or not).
Fer Lefer said, 11 days ago
It’s funny, but I met people who cries against discrimination and agree that somebody in Arizona shoot my “paisanos”…
… And Calvin, the little martian won’t be scared when he gets back with his parents

Wow, it’s just like that movie “Planet 51”, except funny.

The little martian probably has a bandersnatch doll that only he can converse with…

I wonder what the weirdo from another planet thinks of the plain ordinary human and his plain ordinary stuffed tiger.

Before you know it, there will be an ear-piercing yell, “CALVIN! GET IN THE HOUSE AT ONCE!!”
“Mom? How did you get to Mars?”
“Don’t be so ridiculous. Now, get in the house! It’s dinner time.”

Hey Calvin he’s not the weirdo from another planet, you are. You’re on his planet, he’s not on yours.
bald 716 said, 11 days ago
maybe the “martian” went to get them some mars food, after all they were not prepared very well for this trip
grazer said, 11 days ago
Calvin and Hobbes are UFOs (Ugly Foreign Objects) in the Martian’s eyes….however many eyes that might be.
Stede_Bonnet said, 11 days ago
Calvin is definitely not an “ordinary earthling”…
If he was, he would have killed the alien, raped it’s woman, massacred, infected or imprisoned all it’s relatives and then despoiled it’s lands with filth and thoughtless consumption.
It’s what we do. (At least until Star Fleet implements the “Prime Directive” but that’s still many years off.)

Good point Stede_Bonnet. But we’d also try to convert the heathens before, during and after we did all that.

Actually: You are the alien around there.
It is like an American going to Europe and complain about all the foreigners over there.
