Dad, if you dont go up, it will come down on you !

Well, Calvin has a good idea in hiding it, although I think mom and dad are going to notice something when water is going down the stairs, and the bathroom is an indoor swimming pool. However, on the good side, indoor swimming pool (until someone opens the door) on the bad side, water damage, and no bathroom.

That is a tough hide, mroberts. And a indoor swimming pool in the bathroom isn’t all it’s kicked up to be.

Calvin is looking rather pail; in fact he seems quite flushed.

The water is almost up to Calvin’s waist. I don’t think the door is gonna hold out much longer.

Poor Calvin he knows he’s in it deep! His face in the last frame says it all.

I hear parents tell their kids “I hope when you grow up, you have a kid just like you.”
Makes me wonder what horrible things Calvin’s Mom and Dad must’ve done to deserve him!
LX013 said, about 1 month ago
Happy, that others wait impatiently for the next strip, like I do!

In panel 3, Dad’s not ‘railing’ at Calvin yet, but he will when he ‘flushes’ Calvin out.
In panel 4,
“Don’t Let the Rain Come Down” -Serendipity Singers
There will be no serendipitous discovery in this instance.

What happened to Calvin’s hair? He looks completely bald in the last panel.
And where did he find the buckets? Most people keep them in the kitchen or basement, and Calvin was never downstairs.
Puddleglum2 said, about 1 month ago
Susan001,
Maybe Calvin’s hair has been matted down from all the water spraying around the bathroom. Even so, it’s rather surprising in one sense, since this obviously is a ‘hair-raising’ experience for Calvin.
Wasn’t Calvin downstairs in yesterday’s cartoon?

The final warning that Dad should investigate? Panel Four. Calvin telling him not to. I’m glad Dad lost the “your turn” argument. He’s so much wittier than mom…..

The sink is spraying water, that’s why Calvin’s hair is wet and it looks like it’s raining.
brendakraschel said, about 1 month ago
When the answer to “Is everything alright?” is “FINE! DON’T COME UP!” it’s a signal to the parent to ascend the stairs as fast as their legs will carry them. You always know that “Fine” is hiding something the kid doesn’t want you to know about!
JonD17 said, about 1 month ago
maybe it’s already been said, but if Hobbes will flush the toilet enough times, Calvin could make his escape
williams45761 said, about 1 month ago
I’m looking for a particular C&H comic. It’s the one where Calvin says it’s hard to be religious when some people aren’t struck by lightning. It was purportedly published 11/8/90. I have been unsuccessful in finding it on this site after numerous searches which turned up nothing, even after I paid to join.
I’ve been on some cantankerous websites in my day, and this one is in the top 5.

I remember reading somewhere, in the early years of comics, cartoonists couldn’t draw toilets. Thankfully, times have changed.

Re: Williams45761
Heh, that quote, “It’s hard to be religious when certain people are never incinerated by bolts of lightning.” is from page 62 of “Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons”.
