You just have to love the prelude to a disaster discovery…
In this case, musical… da dee dah…

Mom, Dad, you’ve got to be strong for this… brace yourselves…

When Calvin is singing that there is nothing to worry about, that is when you worry the most. Obviously his parents have already discovered this on several occasions.

Well, Nero fiddled while Rome burned so I guess Calvin singing while the house floods isn’t too much of a stretch.

It better be both their turns.

    Name That Tune
I can name that tune in three notes.

I love the way the parents’ expressions progressively change in time with the lyrics. It’s the effect of songwriting at its best. ;)

Methinks thou dost protest too much, Calvin! It doesn’t serve your purpose, but it might save the house if the parents stop disputing about whose turn it is and ‘rise to the occasion’.

    sjoujke,
That’s a good comparison (parallel) between Nero and Calvin.
Nero blamed the Christians; will Hobbes be the scapegoat for Calvin?

    “Your Turn!”
They just acquired Water Works. Now Calvin’s parents need to Pass Go and collect $200 to pay the cost for damages, and ‘pay the Piper’ (for having Calvin).
OGTDA - “One good turn deserves another.” That saying applies to certain Arctic birds, as well.

The good news is that Calvin did not use the hacksaw. This can easily be fixed, but no time to waste parental units.
Quick, before the lyrics turn to “Deep Water”

It shows what a child can do when parents do not pay attention. Keeping Calvin busy might prevent a lot of mischief.

My mom always thought that Calvin & Hobbes reminded her of my brother with his stuffed animals. Many times she would cut out of strip from the paper and tape it to his bedroom door when it really seemed like it was him with a stuffed animal!

    Reckon it’s Dad’s day off.
Rats! I was kinda hoping to see him coming up the front walk, unlocking the front door–and then being swept away by a cascade of water!
BTW, Calvin must be singing “Moon River”–‘cause his own “moon” is about to be whacked for causing that “river”.
