Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Yeah, Hobbes… go get his Mom. I’d like to see that.

Calvin, you will need smelling salts when mom faints, not cyanide.

Memmmories are made of this!

Hearing a child that age use the arcane expression “Have you lost your mind?” is simply hilarious - and typical of Calvin.
kpeiyin said, about 1 month ago
Good job, Calvin! You have succeeded in making mom goes really, really mad.
Yukoner said, about 1 month ago
If Mum misses the fact that the ceiling is dripping she will surely notice then it collapses entirely.
Who keeps cyanide in the medicine cabinet? That should be kept under the kitchen sink or in the fridge where it’s easier to get at.

Bin there, done that! (T-shirts were not an option!) Old enough to know better too!

Hobbes HAS lost his mind. All Mom is going to see is a stuffed tiger, albeit a soaking wet stuffed tiger, still just …….

Don’t “wrench” your knee, Hobbes!
Superfrog said, about 1 month ago
This is great!
You can really see the panic.
I’m sure we’re not the only ones Steve. I remember saying “I don’t need to turn off the water. I’m just going to tighten this thing here.”

I guess the proverbial “thumb in the dyke” won’t help this time.

Ha ha! Even if Calvin gets to the cyanide in time, mom’s gonna bring him back from the afterlife, torture him, and then send him back!

Ok, this is the second time in the last month where I just couldn’t wait to find out the next installment. First I tagged ‘water’, got 11 pages of OTHER strips about water but not this one. Tried again with ‘faucet’ and hit the mark. Bil Watterson is such a genius I wish to heck he’d come out of retirement!

You know what Calvin? There’s this little turn off valve under the sink see, and you just …

Ahh, the urgency of a child who’s screwed up royally, and broken something. I remember that.

It’s interesting how some of the funniest comedy is made of stories about others (like Calvin) who are in a miserable fix.

Right on! They could be weekly Sunday strips in full color!

My guess would be the “Cyanide” is located right behind the bottle of Aspirin… It is the one with the lable that reads Rx 321123 “Use only In Case Of Emergency” Written for Mr. and Mrs. Calvin’s Mom and Dad.
Vonnegut said, about 1 month ago
I hope that Hobbes floats because floating downstream with the current is about the only way that a stuffed animal is going to go get mom!

Sorry, bald 716, you’re a little too late: the Rescue Squad just blocked the neighbourhood half an hour ago.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Calvin takes a cue from Bill Cosby… “Some man came in through the window, sprayed us with water and then ran out of the room …laughing…”
There’s two ways to learn things: 1) You have someone/something teach you and you glean from their wisdom OR 2) You learn it yourself by trial & error (emphasis on the ERROR). No one lives long enough to learn everything by method #2.

Regarding the cyanide…
Bill Cosby also had a great routine about mothers. How they say that they will “Beat You To Within An Inch Of Your Life!!”
“…Now THAT’S horrible! They’re gonna beat you until your THIS far - and then STOP!!”
marias said, about 1 month ago
it is funny how Calvin has the time to open the medicine cabinet and look for the cyanide

When you dig the hole to bury the body, dig it DEEEP!!! Then put a cement patio down over it.

My thoughts exactly as I was reading this strip. The powerful spray of water. The sheer panic on Calvin’s face. Great job of conveying the moment.

The U.S. Navy teaches sailors to stuff a mattress, pillow, bedding, etc. into a hole to control flooding. Hmm… if only Calvin had ready access to a some sort of soft, stuffed object that he could stuff in that hole… if only…

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Calvin this panicked, not even when he broke (er, ground into powder) Dad’s expensive binoculars.

She can’t find out about this? I’m sorry Calvin, but I think she might notice something different about the bathroom…..

This strip is so very funny. When I saw it earlier I laughed so hard. Never had this type happen to us in the bathroom.
Now in an old Mobile Home the hot water tank casket broke and shot water out but not like this.
