Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

He’d rather be in outer space…perhaps Mom will want to join him.

I think it would probably be more enjoyable if dad would shut up about it.
Gweedo Murray said, 3 months ago
He should commit filigree instead.

Ah, fantasy: the cure for and the cause of nearly all of Calvin’s problems. How well I know the feeling.
Wow, Gweedo, if Dad committed that, then Mom would be a lot more cheerful (provided he could pay for it).

Where else would Calvin’s mind go? After all, he’s fly fishing.

Where’s Hobbes? How come he missed the trip?

Calvin will probably throw in the fishing pole by accident.

I cannot be with Calvin, I would like the trip!

Sorry Calvin you’re stuck. If losing his camera and his glasses weren’t enough to make him turn around and go home nothing will.
FishStix said, 3 months ago
Good-bye, Calvin. Never fish on a boat with a high-strung kid.

I love to go camping, but it’s for the hiking and rock climbing.
I’m with Calvin on the fishing.

I can just see Dad getting a dunking while Calvin gets to stay put in the canoe! LOL.

I remember having the same “escape” method when I was a kid, except in my case I was always “The Durango Kid”…lol.

EJCAPULET WROTE “I think it would probably be more enjoyable if dad would shut up about it.”
Then how would the artist make his point?
ratlum said, 3 months ago
Calvin you should have Hobbes with you
I bet he would love fishing and planning great adventures
Gweedo Murray said, 3 months ago
Well Rakkav, dad has to throw Mom a bone now and then, so to speak, otherwise he’s going to do a lot of time on the sofa as payback for the camping trip where a week at a spa would have been much more preferable.
ninmas said, 3 months ago
they return later to see mom with an air mattress and ordered a pizza and massage.

What’s happened to Dad’s glasses and can he see anything without them?

At first, I thought Calvin’s daddy didn’t wear his eyeglasses and then he might wear the contact lens instead.

Thanks again gang on the comments about my Dad! This just brings back so many memories of camp with my folks . I just got too shook up and had to take a couple days off from reading the strip.
The most I guess I got into my imagination at that age was, with a make believe dog I took everywhere. I didn’t remember it going to the extreme but Mom did and repeated several stories to my friends and boyfriends growing up! All I remember is really wanting a dog. My grandparents finally got me a small dog when I was 10. Hopefully the make believe dog moved out years before the real dog moved in!

Calvin’s on an alien adventure, Dad’s in a rustic idyll. I guess the mother’s the only one in the actual woods.

No, Mom’s back home with her coffee, newspaper and a more “civilized” breakfast. :)
