Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Did his parents have themselves spayed and neutered after he was born?
corpuskevin said, 3 months ago
Let’s hope Dad didn’t plan a vacation that builds character.
phanchem09 said, 3 months ago
Hey, corpus, you’ve read the books?
grazer said, 3 months ago
Hoboy, this is gonna be one fun vacation!—for us readers.
Leonardeuler said, 3 months ago
Alas Corpuskevin, alas……. you’ll see what’s going to happen.
corpuskevin said, 3 months ago
I haven’t read the books. I do this from memory. And several years of cobwebs have collected. This strip is like finding an old stack of comic books. Some story lines I remember, some I don’t. But it’s all good fun.

Go on, Calvin, vacation certainly will be funny!
Bdaysuit said, 3 months ago

Gotta love Calvin’s building blocks for the “Good Life”. Cookies for dinner!! yeh sounds like the A plan to me.

Corpuskevin, if I recall correctly Calvin is about to be threatened with becoming a human boat anchor while fishing with Dad. One of my fave strips.
Leonardeuler said, 3 months ago
Me ? Go ? Go where ?
Calvin is so innocent, so ignorant, isn’t he ??

I think it’s the other way around: Mom and Dad need a vacation from Calvin - but I don’t think they can find anyone to put up with that dear sweet boy for a week.
I see a 100% chance of rain in the 7 day forecast, unless this will turn out differently from what I recall reading way back when.
Kerovan said, 3 months ago
There have been several vacation storylines over the run of this comic, This definitely isn’t the “Character Building” one as I remember it. No spoilers about that one, I don’t like doing that to people.

Ah yes! I remember all the strips. I have a photographic memory!!! However I seem to have run out of film and I can’t remember where I put the photo albums.

This should be a nice story arc for us to read.

Calvin, I hope you will not get so bored while you and your parents go on the vacation for a month. Take Hobbes with you to keep you company so you will not become a BOOOOORRRRRRRRRRREEEEEED!
sjoujke said, 3 months ago
Can you imagine Calvin and Hobbes left home alone - actually, on second thought, I’d rather not imagine it!
On the other hand they could take a real break and leave him at home with Roslyn to look after him - what sweet revenge that would be!
phillysteak said, 3 months ago
yeah the only good vacations r without parent supervision
kab2rb said, 3 months ago
Imagine Calvin in his version of Home a Long from Disney. Funny Would anyone survieve Calvin”s imagination.

Comix are great Calvin talking to Dad that way
before he goes fishing in a boat or hiking in the dark woods just him Hobbes and Dad
I think he should be way more loving

Waterson perfectly captured the gen-x/millenial generation even before it was fully realized. A month of planning? If it didn’t happen in the last 8 hours, they have no recollection of it. An entire generation with no memory of the past.
And those who do not learn from history are doomed…

sitting in a canoe in the middle of a lake…….IN THE MIDDLE OF A RAIN STORM!!!!!!!!! Nice family vacation.

I remember too the impending lark the camping trip becomes. Oh, Dad shall wish he left ol’ Calvin at home after he has to listen to Calvin on the road for a few hours…..
prasrinivara said, 3 months ago
Is this thread the one where Calvin’s dad makes issue about Calvin’s always wanting hamburgers at food-stops?
Josh said, 3 months ago
It’s not the Hamburger one, and it’s not the one where it rained the whole week either. In fact, compared to the other camping trips I remember, this one is not that great.
krisbee said, 3 months ago
Dad: You’re right… what kinda vacation is that with you? Am I stupid or what? Hobbes, com’on..letz go!! There will be tiger babes!!
mrprongs said, 3 months ago
They should leave Calvin with Rosalyn. When they get back, he’ll treat them like the greatest parents ever.
Ghareeb said, 3 months ago
Stuffed Hobbes is as great and rare to see as Whole ALF Remember ALF? He’s back – in pog form.
teaguemj said, 3 months ago
Just wait 10 or 15 years. They will go to Mexico or Europe, and he’ll be begging to go, too.
teaguemj said, 3 months ago
If only it were just Hobbes, he could go to Animal Adventure Ranch, where I live. It is a hotel for cats/dogs/rabbits/goats/llamas/anything. We dropped off our Dobermann and Dalmation while we had my sons’ family visiting recently. My husband and I downsized , and we just didn’t have room for my son, his wife, and 3 granddaughters, and their dog, cat, two turtles, and a fish, plus our other sons two huge dogs. So! Doggie day and night care was great!

Kerovan, nice to know that some people don’t have the need or desire to spew out spoilers. I for one appreciate your consideration.
