Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Love the look on Calvin’s face in the last pannel. He must be a real joy in a restaurant. Plenty of people to make sick there, but do the parents even risk it?

Fabulous art work. I love how knowledgeable Calvin is, and how large his vocabulary; yet he does so poorly in school. The young Stephen Hawking. Or maybe the young B.O. Plenty. Guess we will never know.
Curse you, Bill Watterson!!
(Just kidding.)

He ought to draw this scene on paper and give it to Mom. Would she ever be surprised?

I love it.

Parents don’t understand what is in the imagination of a child!

Always liked the “camera angle” in the 5th panel.
Note that the same ketchup bottle, fork & jar can be seen in the last frame.

To BC13, I think his parents just leave an unbelieveably humongous tip, and pay for damages on the way out.
JonD17 said, 3 months ago
BC13, already been documented, Calvin turned into a T-Rex in a fancy restaurant.
Ray C, obviously Calvin is underchallenged in the conventional school system. He needs to be put into a program for the gifted.

Hello everyone done with church ours is early. I notice a lot like C&H. Our local paper here has a comic strip based on a teenager called Zitts. I wish gocomics would add this I believe parents could relate. I’m from Wichita, KS and I won’t say the city and st too much.

Brilliant colors, wonderful art work. Strips like this show how evocative and versatile comic art can be. There’s nothing like this anymore at all; I sure miss Watterson! We can all be grateful they are republished daily here, at least … .

If I were Calvin’s parents, I would get Calvin a babysitter (it’s been done before) if they want to eat out. I think it would be cheaper that way.

I vaguely remember that storyline. The last time I read it was probably when it was initially published in the ‘80’s

I enjoy Zits also-about a 15 year old.
Another strip that I miss is “Rose is Rose”, which did the transforming based on internal imagination and feelings.

A great family comic.
One of my favorite family comics is Jump Start: http://comics.denverpost.com/affiliate/denver/?ComicID=45
Zits is also good family fun…a little edgier than those two.
For great comic art, Prince Valiant seems to stand out, at least to this amateur comics fan. He’s at

Hey all I am a mom I am glad I brought up about Zits. This would be wild how about Zits baby sitting Calvin. All types of trouble. If Zitts could keep up with Calvin. Ha I have two 26 yr old son and 23 yr old daughter. For Zitts I have been trying to find a web page for this comic strip in case we quite our local newspaper. So thanks.
By the way How do I change my icon to something funny? Download off webpage somewhere? Sorry I am not trying to scream.

Oh my God! I think I just had that fly inside my room, standing on my keyboard!
I love “Zits” too by the way. I used to read it in a Swedish comic magazine, that now has been discontinued.
kab2rb said, 3 months ago
Or yet for Calvins baby sister from Stone Soup the teenage boy who lives with the family more active. Might be good for Calvin.
I agree Jump Start would be good to for go comics.

If you type “comics” into the search engine the resulting list should include The Washington Post & The Houston Chronicle. Both of these fill out what isn’t on this site or Comics.com. Baby Blues, Sally Forth, Mutts, Bizarro, etc. No comments page, though.
